Default MY05 Sti 05 From Cyrpus

Looking at the above at the moment and it being a Euro Import, what are the implications. I have 2 main concerns,
Is the warranty valid for the 3 yrs.
Are the service intervals the same.
Will UK dealers warrant it.
Can I get ppp fitted here and retain my warranty.

Thanks in advance.

Cyprus Spec Scoobs are exactly the same Spec as UK Scoobs.
Service intervals are the same.
Not sure about the warranty though.

I can provide you with the number of a local Subaru dealership here if thats any help?

YES, the service intervals are the same (10000 miles or a year)
YES, you can get PPP fitted at a Subaru Main Dealer
YES, the warranty is 3 years, just like the UK car, or just like any other EU member state car! With the UK warranty, you also get breakdown assistance, unfortunately you won't have that with your EU car.

You have to register the warranty with Subaru UK yourself, it's a phone call to Subaru UK Birmingham, and they will tell you how to do it.

If you have any problems or hostility from ANY Subaru Dealers, just call Subaru UK and ask to speak to the Managing Director of Subaru UK, who will very positively tell you that 'all customers who own Subaru's will be treated equally at all main dealers'.

Hope this helps!

And contrary (sp?) to popular mis-information insurance on UK spec EU car (Cyprus is now an EU member) is no different from UK cars...!!!

Insurance for PPP on the other may prove a problem. If so try A Plan, excellent service and prices...!

Go for it but remember to consider main dealers are offering free PPP at the mo. The EU price needs to reflect this.

Are you sure that you won't void the warranty if you fit the PPP to a cyprus car as its the cyprus dealer who honours the warranty not the UK?

If the STI service intervals are the same as the WRX then they are slightly different as they are in Kilometres 5000K for the first one not 1000miles

Yes, i'm sure thankfully! I've owned an EU WRX PPP 03 and 02, and both had warranty claims (a couple of minor things). There was a time when you could not get PPP fitted to an EU car and still have the warranty honoured, but I believe that was pre-2003 sometime, not sure exactly when!

And as for Cyprus, i'll be there in 11 days! That's where you see some superb Scooby's in abundance, loads of highly modified classic 2 door type RA's, more Spec C's than you see here, and even new shape Scoobs with the 2003 front, and bugeye rear lights! Limassol for Scooby's is like Tokyo or Osaka. I'll take some pics and post when I get back.

Service intervals are different due to the climate, you NEED to stick to these if you want to retain your warranty, they are less than a UK STi so it will cost you more to run.

I will do that! I know Chris, and his lovely 22B! I sit at the ice cream bar most evenings in 'Enaerios', you know that bit of road from the seafront up towards St Nicholas roundabout, with all the cafe bars and loads of Scoobs roaring up and down all evening! Lovely sight! I'll be there Sunday evening, 18th Sept, after having dinner at Lefteris kebabs, on the same road.

Yeah just a pity he keeps all wrapped up in his showroom though.
He open to offers for it though!

I have heard that this is true from some and from others I have heard it is untrue, who can give the definite answer on this? Where did you hear it from Tony?

I use to work in cyprus about 10 years back, the cars then had a different service interval due to the near east climate (dust etc) but if the car is from cyprus and its warrantied, you need to stick to what they require for the service intervals, no matter if the climate has changed where you are otherwise they can invalidate the warranty for you not keeping thier required service intervals.
