Just done mine last weekend:
Before:
After:
CD2 costs £7.99 from Halfords - enough for one thorough (initial) clean, but probably enough for 2 goes if you've already removed the bulk of the grime
I sprayed on the degreaser (3/4 can), left it for 10 mins, hosed it off (low pressure except for the manifold), sprayed on rest of degreaser, minced around with a wire toothbrush and a cloth for a while... then hosed off again. I didn't bother covering anything, just made sure to avoid the coilpack, alternator, etc. best I could. Last stage is the detailer/wax spray which makes everything shine and (supposedly) protects it.
The belt shields were Hammerited last weekend, cos they were beyond a simple degrease.
Just before I fired it up, I must admit I was ****ting it incase it didn't start... no problems though, and well worth the effort

Engine Degreaser from Poundland .... £1 a can - use 3, as follows:-
Warm engine thoroughly.
Cover IC and Alarm in plastic bags.
Spray all over (use 2 cans) leave for 15minutes and rinse ........ start car and idle.
Spray on 3rd can ..... leave for 3 minutes and then rinse - leave engine RUNNING whilst rinsing and then SHUT the bonnet ..................... leave engine running and the engine will now steam clean!!
RESULT and £3!!
Jobs a good 'un!!

£3 for a clean and steam isn't bad at all is it??
But, there are those who will turn their nose up at Poundland degreaser and prefer to pay extra in the vain hope that it does a better job ......... same as the old Oil chestnut ............ snobbery costs you £££££££'s

Trust me, it'll take hardly any longer no matter how dirty it is.
If it's that dirty then get an extra can of Gunk spray-on to assist the first tin of CD2.
I did my car tonight as this topic got me itching to see how well my 3.0 flat 6 would come up, it's done 25,000 miles now, and once again the results are stunning.
Unfortuntaley my camera was flat so I couldn't do another before/after.
