Having driven like a nanny whilst the fuel crisis was on, have now managed to fill up, and having done 182 miles, could only get just under 21 litres in the tank - this equates to over 39mpg!! Granted, car never saw over 2500 rpm, but 39MPG!!! - not bad with c280BHP!!

Proves how badly the car is normally driven - but how much more fun I normally have

Gary,

I've found better mpg also! I think the fuel shortage has taught me to drive more economically on roads. I'll save my thrashing for track days from now one

Thanks

Seriuosly though, are you running on SUL ? If so, where are you getting it ?

Gary,

the speed I saw you crawling through Longton at today, I am not surprised.

I hope to get into double figures when my Evo VI Makinen finally arrives.

Kevin.

I drove back from Scotland last Tuesday (500 miles)and averaged 33mpg which I considered stunning, up from the usual 25. Had to travel at 75mph though and be passed by vans, robin reliants, renualts 5's and every other sad car on the road.

Tony - I have had 9mpg before - no joke, but big fun No SUL that I've found, but with over half a tank of SUL still in, plus 21 litres of NUL and a bottle of Octane booster...that'll do!!

Hunty - it was killing me every minute if that helps!!

So who was the Silver 5dr MY00 I saw on the M11, being (quickly) overtaken by a lorry ? What was your petrol consumption? 50+ mpg?

My old man has got around 33mpg from the Scoob on more than a few occasions. Maybe due to the fact that he has started driving like a girl (no offence intended)

ERRRR....To make petrol last as long as possible, when there is f*** all chance of filling up again? thus avoiding walking 40 miles each way to get to work?? Where have you been for the last 10 days???

Apparently the new Imp does nearly 34MPG on average instead of 29MPG for the current model. At least that's one good thing eh.

Hey, if you guys are really hot on fuel economy after the fuel crises why not go mad and trade your Imprezas for Diesel Daihatsu Charades? No, seriously

I sincerely hope i never-ever manage 39mpg in my Scooby.
Yes, i know there was a fuel shortage, thats why God invented plastic petrol/jerry cans.

P.S. How many miles do you get out of your tyres and brakes? - no,no i realy do not want to know.
