That ad is seriously misleading ....... To the point where I think RCM should contact the guy, and make sure the ad is corrected.

I doubt RCM would want anyone to think the "engine" is one of their's, or bares any resemblance to the Icelandic engine !!

Wonder why the heads have been removed.

I know it's difficult to tell, but do the top of the pistons look like Omega's?

He doesn't say it's producing 650 bhp, he says it's capable of it

I'm not saying the engine is, or isn't capable of producing 650bhp.

It's being sold as being the same spec' engine that RCM/Halldor are doing 9 second 1/4's in, and it ISN'T.

seem`s resonable to me , If you wanted to build it , he is not far away on his price, (don`t forget the VAT,)

Since no one generally knows what Haldors engine spec is then I will say its "VERY" misleading.

edited to say I do know btw.

Question

Get this months Jap Performance! There is quite a bit about the spec in it, thats if its all true mind and only the likes of haldor,Bob R and RCM are truely gonna know that. They say it kicks out 709 bhp@7500rpm and that does not include a 35-125bhp nos system either and oh, its still a 2 litre. Any truth in the power Bob?

I'd say it could make 650bhp.

How long it would do that for is another question though

Seems it may be up to the job to me assuming it has been assembled correctly.

You don't need to spend a fortune to get that sort of power, well maybe just a small fortune but certainly not as much as some outlets are suggesting

I have seen the dyno sheets and thats true. ive also seen inside the engine and its most certainly a 2 litre.

edited to say it was on an engine dyno, not an RR, so probably more accurate.

seems a lot for an engine with no intercooler, no turbo, no engine management

Would you take the risk on buying a modded engine from someone with low feedback on Ebay for that much money ???

I'm sure the seller could well be legit, and even if he has all the receipts for the work done from the proper places etc... you'd still be taking a risk as you dont know what has been done with the engine since the work was carried out.

I think the seller would be better off trying to get the people who built the engine to sell it on commission for him and offer the buyer a proper guarantee with it.

the fact that the first thing he says is that team ice were the first impreza in the world into the 9s makes me think immediatley that it is bollocks.

The seller is perfectly legit' I bought a propshaft from him a couple of months back, privately. His car in it's original guise was featured in EVO when they did the Subaru Tuner piece, most of that work being carried out by Xtreme and laterly G-Force.

I suspect that he's selling up because it's taking longer than he would like, absorbing more money than he thought it would and he's still not going to be competing with people like Paul, Andy, Mark etc

Is it just me - or is in fact only the short engine with no heads...

...reserve starts to seem high in that case...

again IMHO of course!

Those aren't light weight cam pulleys, they're vernier adjustable cam pulleys...

Kent pulleys as supplied via RCMS. The early type have small cap screws for triggering the cam sensor. They have resulted in a bad pick up signal on a number of cars.
