Why doesn't the newage wagon have flared arches ?

Why doesn't the newage wagon have flared arches ?
Just pondering on the above I guess Subaru must have their reasons , does anyone know ?

I'm probably wrong about this (so feel free to put me in my place! ), butI heard there is a difference between 04 and 05 WRX saloons and wagons - no idea if STis were changed as well.
The 04 wagon had a wider track than the 04 saloon - however this year the saloon's track was widened to match (and the wagon has stayed the same) - possibly why the arches are flared on the 05 saloons?
That said, I don't know if the arches are noticably different between 04 and 05 cars...

Newage 03-05 wagon's have always had a narrower front track than the saloon (1465mm v 1485mm). Rear they are both the same (1480mm).
Body dimensions also differ:
Width; wagon= 1695mm v saloon= 1740mm
Height; wagon= 1485mm v saloon 1440mm
Weight; wagon= 1410kgs v saloon 1390kgs
