Iv seen a car.Would you buy it?
I fancy returning to scooby ownership.Iv seen a MY2000(bugeye) x reg estate,1 owner,38000 miles,uk car fssh.Looks and sounds mint,£8500.
Does this price sound about right? Its from an independant dealer and can take my part-ex.Would you buy it?

Yeah, the car could be a 2000 but the model year will be 2001.
Parkers say £8295 from an independant dealer. It does have below the average 40k miles though, which could be reflected in the price.

Go for a Classic .............. you're throwing money away buying the ugliest of the ugly!
As the years go by the gap between it in price and a 2000 Classic will be gigantic - the bugeye will simply be unsaleable ............ chavs want to look good, so the Bugeye will be dirt cheap if you can even find a buyer.
Just my opinion

I don't want to turn this into a Classic versus Bugeye battle ........ but, generally, a Bugeye of MY2000 will be worth MUCH less than a Classic of that age.
The Bugeye IS pig ugly and stays ugly whatever you do to it .... its awful from the front, its terrible from the back, its just HORRIBLE!!
And SUBARU agree!! They were losing so much money and sales that they couldn't fail to notice that they had got it BADLY wrong ...................... why should a secondhand buyer get it so wrong too?? Theres simply no need to buy an ugly BugEye Impreza!!

If you like the look of the car go for it. Pete is probably right on one count, namely that a similar aged classic will sell for more (the EVO VI generally had the same effect on the EVOVII and so on). Of course that means you could get a newer design for a lower price instead of paying a premium which in all honesty will disappear as the car's age - as for ugly that's opinion based and sadly Pete is full of opinions! My opinion for what it's worth is that the bugeye Type UK STi is the best looking impreza of the lot!! So maybe I'm biased

Well i like my Bug Eye, although i have changed the front lights which improves the whole look of the car.
The only people i have heard that call the bug eys ugly are classic owners!. Non impreza drivers that have discussed my car have nothing but praise for it. And dont worry they would be honest as they have flamed me before about previous cars.
If you like it buy it - simple

But the OP is looking at a bugeye AND ITS AN ESTATE !
Sure, they may be practical - even though the 4 doors boot is big enough - but what the hell were Subaru thinking ? 'I know, we'll take a perfectly good looking 4 door, and graft on the ugliest rear end we can - that'll stop people wanting to steal them'

The Wagon is KING!!
The Wagon is for the discerning owner, the owner with confidence, the owner for who a wolf in sheeps clothing is the ONLY way to travel ...........
For the BIG mouths, there's the Saloon of course with its vulgar rear wing and poxy boot space

I know all the arguements for them being good cars, technically improved blah blah but there is often more heart than head with purchasing a sports car and bugs don't do it for most subaru fans... go either side of the bug for the best looking motors! just my humble opinion (and yes I have a classic saloon and its a beautiful thing!)

Wow! Thanks for all the links and pictures, its helped me out alot.My last scooby was a classic saloon with ppp and prodrive handling pack and i do fancy a change from that.
For me ,the bugeye has really caught my eye,it does look and feel a better built car.As for buying it im really keen now and up for it but im havin trouble convinsing the missis. This is where all my efforts are going now and im getting paranoid someone else is gonna buy it first.
I sold my last scooby for a bigger car and bought a diesel estate so any impreza's better than that.

"The Wagon is for the discerning owner, the owner with confidence, the owner for who a wolf in sheeps clothing is the ONLY way to travel ..........."
The owner :
with no sense of style
who couldnt afford a 'proper car' ( try selling a wagon ! )
is actually over 60 and bought it by mistake
bought it off ebay and the photos were all from the front
thinks using a performance car to carry loads of crap in the back is a good plan
likes more room to smuggle illegal immigrants in from the continent
lives with their mum, so cant take women home and has a matress in the back ( or is a closet homosexual, and cant take men back because of the wife )
