Question STi's at Motorpoint ?

Went to take a look at the Impreza's advertised by my local Motorpoint.
They offer an Sti saloon with metallic at £19995 and STi 'Xtreme' ? at £20995.
As far as I could see, the only difference on the Xtreme was DCCD, anyone know if this is the only difference?
I think the cars are from Malta and so would have the 3 year warranty like a UK car, is this the case ?
At the moment Subaru are doing free PPP on UK cars, whats the best price anyone has had on a new STi (with PPP) ?
If I did buy the import would a UK dealer fit the PPP and if so at what cost ?

You wont get an alarm normally on these cars or a tracking system, which is standard on a UK Sti, also you cant PPP them without invalidating the warranty either.
Its actually easier to get a UK car at the moment with PPP.

i've got a import from Malta, local dealer will fit PPP and i'll still have warranty, it would cost £2g the same as it would cost fitting to a typeUK

PPP has to be fitted in country of origin for the warranty to remain intact though your dealer may well cover you, its out of their pocket if anything goes wrong.

Yup, PPP should be fitted in the country of origin, even with the pan european warranty.
They will fit it in the uk though, just not warrantied, dont ask me why.

I know what your saying and probably if i fitted PPP and it did go bang,
theres a good chance Liaco would deny it, which is why i'd need it in written
conformation before i fit PPP,they said they would!

PPP's not the only performance package out there, and im sure that due to the "retaining warranty" issue, there will be many that have been forced into having this fitted to their cars just so they can get some irrelevent switch replaced on the dash for nowt.

Question is, warranty issues aside, would you really still be wanting to fit the PPP as the package of preference?

Not having a pop at PPP owners, but curious to see how many people have went with say the TSL 333 during their warranty period if they thought that the aftermarket tuners package offered better performance/cost.

And something that is actuallly thread related:

The tyres are also different mate. Standard motorpoint Sti gets you RE040's, extreme gets you RE070's.

Things had got easier lately. You can know get ppp in the uk and still keep your warranty, as long as evrything is bought in the EU Subaru can do nothing about it. There are quite a few on here that have done it now and had a claim on there warranty

I looked into TSL ask for 333+chargecooler they never even got back to me!
heard rumour that there mapper had left,(but don't quote on that)
but have to admit it 333 is a better package than PPP

I have been told by local stealership that the service intervals are less for malta cars due to the dust rough roads etc. Apparently 4000 miles, if you dont carry out that often the warranty is invalid. Dealer said they were having all sorts of people complaining due to their warranty being invalid as they were following uk servicing

I have a Malteser from Motorpoint. Standard MY05 WRX. Servicing intervals are 1K, 9K, 19K, 28K, 38K etc. etc. Goes up in 9000 miles then 10000 miles.

Just had the 9K service on mine from main dealer without any troubles.

The saving, IMHO is well worth it. I've never asked about PPP for mine, but will a UK dealer really want to turn down £2K of business??

At exactly the same point with my Cyprus 05 WRX..

Having looked into this prior to going the TEK3+ route it seems that there is no problem with PPP & warranty on any EU car these days. (having spoken to all parties involved that is, not the usual SN BS..!)

Also - a good word about Motorpoint. I've had loads of PMs from people asking about them who have went on to buy, and have a mate who bought a WRX from them after seeing mine.

I've yet to hear of any problems with them. So your experience, if you go for it, should be a pleasurable one.

I thought about that when i got the service book, but your not in Malta
and you don't have dusty roads! so surely you have to comply with the service
intervals of the country your based? also you could ask your dealer if that was the case to stamp your service book an put in a bogus mileage, it's not as though Subaru UK are paying!!!!!!!!!!!

The dealer doesn't get £2K of business from selling a PPP.

He only gets a few hundred pounds and 2 hours of labour.

I didn't say £2K profit. I said £2K worth of business. It's quite clear they're not making 100% profit on anything.

Maybe my definition of business is different from yours.
