Well Done Tony - If a bit late!

So it's nearly over!
Lets get this thing discussed and sorted in the proper way! - It still needs doing but it should be done in a legal way.
Perhaps a fixed tax on the fuel rather than a percentage would work better!

It is absolutely amazing just how out of touch blair and his stupid mates are with this country. The refinery blockades may be weakening but the protests will not stop. Most people seem to support the protests even though it is a massive inconvenience not to be able to use your car. I think Blair's arrogant sabre rattling rhetoric has shown what a fool he really is rather than showing how strong a leader he must be. This problem is his brown and prescot's making - people have been complaining for months about the tax on petrol and they have ignored it all. They claim to be democratic and refuse to listen to the electorate - they don't know the meaning of the word. Due to the extra profits they have made on north sea oil as crude prices have shot up industry analysts have estimated that they could immediately cut 8p off the tax on a litre on fuel WITHOUT in any way changing their spending plans. All this talk of 'if we cut tax we have to sack nurses..' is basically a LIE.
It is about time they act responsibly and stop this highway robbery by cutting fuel duty by at least 5p/l.
I sincerely hope that people remember how arrogant this government is and do not vote for them in the next general election.
Arrrgh - even writing this makes me pi$$ed off.

Fuel duty is a fixed level - just a bloody high one!
And its not really all over 20 Tankers in the country got out overnight, purely for 'special use' - ie Fatty Prescotts Jags have run out
As for discussing rationally, that is what has been going on for 6 months!
Just make sure you remember this when you tick the box next May!!

Fat bob, you really think its going to work, "discussing it"?
Think again my friend.
Tony has basically shown that now hes got power he has forgotten why he got voted in.
What has the Labour government actually done over the last few years?
managed an economy that was setup for them before they came to power, yep thats about it
what have they got planned, open the doors to the country to let more foreigners in.
This is insead of training our people.

Personaly I am quite glad that Blair isn't giving in to the protesters even though I agree with their cause. If he gives in to them, those reclaim the streets anti capitalist nutters will think they can get results in the same way and then god help us!

It would be nice if Europe would step in and make petrol prices similar across the countries. Seems they only get involved when trying to screw us
As for 'Well done Tony', the blokes a smarmy to%$3r!!!

What has Blair actually done apart from blame everybody
(Oil companies/OPEc etc....
who get it out of the ground/transport it thousands of miles/refine it/ transport it to filling stations which they maintain etc.
all for 20-30p a litre!!!!!!!!)
but himself/Government.
I thought/assumed that the Government was there to represent us/our Country and keep us competitive etc.
Whilst I appreciate its not practical to bow to this direct pressure (setting a dangerous precedent!!) this situation never should have arisen and then to wash his/there hands of the problem!!!!
Where has all that extrs 'dough' gone ('War chests' etc for a 'give away' , please vote for me budget next year etc....not 'green' issues nor public transport etc.)
Arrogant 'Tone' had better get the message else he's bound for the opposition benches again!!).
Rant over
Cheers,
Dieter

Under Labour Government:
1. Reduced Police force where it is really needed on the streets reducing real crime. Increased gatso's and Traffic police activity in other words more income.
2. Cutbacks in schools, classes are the biggest they have ever been, A level students are struggling for tuition, teachers are in a shortage especially in London.
3. The NHS is buckling, a stupid measurement has allowed the Government to spurt Propaganda about how it has improved the NHS, but in actual fact the real problems of the NHS have worsened.
4. More power has been handed to Europe.
5. Public transport and our road networks is a shambles, i.e. bus lane in the fast lane of the M40.
6. Can't manage anything properly, the DOME, how far out of bed have they been with the DOME its been an absolute abortion. ROVER, believe me the government had their part to play in the demise of Rover.
7. OH yes the Economy is doing well. Well it was just fine when they got it, my 4 month old son could have managed not to have screwed that up.
8. How could we forget the tax on Fuel.
I rest my case, DO NOT VOTE THIS GOVERNMENT BACK IN, Labour were crap the last time they were in office and they are worse at it now.
Opionated I know but there isn't a friend for family member that hasn't suffered under this ****e government.

Emergency supplies were being let out anyway!

On the news this morning, Fatty Two Jags was asked to comment on various things, one of which was his comments that if this Government could not make a success of The Dome, then they would not be much of a Government. The actually tried to say that The Dome was a success. This goes to show how out of touch with public opinion Lbour are, something that historically has been their champion cause.
More interestingly, on the Big Breakfast Vital Statistics they mentioned that if a mars bar was subjected to the same duty as petrol it would cost £2.43. This puts the whole thing into perspective.

The problem with fuel tax is that it is indescriminate and affects those struggling to make ends meet to the same extent as those with huge incomes. The key to fair taxation is to target appropriately, fuel tax does not. I am not suggesting different fuel tax levels for different people but less fuel tax and better targeting of income tax. 50p in the £ for people earning over 100K would be better in my opinion.
