Spare key needed for euro My00
Is it only Subaru dealers that can provide this key?
Car is a euro import MY00, it has a laserline cat1 alarm and I have 2 seperate alarm fobs but only 1 ignition key.
Does this key have a chip in it?
TIA
Dave

Afaik there is no chip in the key. I take it that you have a separate fob to open the doors? If so, then there is no chip in the key.
My MY99 has no chip in the key. That is why if you have sat for a while and the immobiliser has come on, you cannot just turn the key in the ignition to start the car.

It's just a normal black key, no buttons, says subaru on one side and has the logo on the other. Laserline alarm does the RCL and arming/disarming.
Also if I try to start the car with the key after ignition has been off for more than 5-10 seconds without arming/disarming - nothing happens, won't even run starter motor. This means no chip in key AFAIK........so cheap key will work???

If it is a Euro spec 00 MY then it has an immobilsor and requires a Subaru key
which can only be programmed by a Subaru dealer .If you look down the shank of the key you where the metal meets the plastic you will see a small
rectangale inset this is where the chip for the factory IMM is fitted .If you alarm has remote tele start then the chip is removed and taped to the ignition barrell not too secure in my opinion

This may mean there are 2 immobilisers and the key won't start the car because the laserline alarm/immobiliser is active!?!
Which means I need an immobilser key after all!?!
****, confused now, nearest dealers is robinsons of rochdale, might have to give them a ring!
