Question Fuel Tank Starvation - whatever happened to that then?

I remember reading here about 5 years ago about some ***** saying how, if your car runs low on fuel, due to the shape of the fuel tank, your car will cut-out unexpectedly ............

Thats all died a death and now its all about Det!! and MAF sensors and re-maps!!

So? did the problem disappear, not exsist or was it just popular for a few months??

Everyone knows about it now! If you run below 1/4 of a tank and take right handers or roundabouts at pace this causes the fuel to be pushed the left side of the tank away from the pump and in some cases can result in the pump momentarily drawing air resulting in a drop in fuel pressure and a suddent loss of power until the air is expelled from the system. This one is true, ask any Subaru specialist they all advise fitting a better pump which helps or better still a swirl pot. But if you dont drive fast enough it wont happen
