Smile Anyone tried 235/40/18 Tyres on a Blobeye STi?

Just wondered if anyone has tried wider tyres on an STi, and if so is there any rubbing/handling problems?

Hi m8 I got Prodrive 18" x 8" on my 04 WRX with Toyo T1-R's 235/40/18 no problem at all, great grip & ride don't rub either

Using 225/40/18's rather than the 235's you speak of. My only advise to you would be to seriously consider going down the Goodyear F1 route as these have stiffer sidewalls (extra load rating). If you want to know more pm me.

Cheers

As with what WB has stated, you need a 90 rated load indicator on the tyre, dont go less than this as it can sometimes compromise safety (thus the reason get splits in their sidewalls )

That's great, thanks a lot guys.

Currently running 225/40/18 on my P-FF7s but there's not much way in lip protection so a set of 235/40/18 T1S-R or GSD3s will be on order.

Marc,

Read what Tony & I are saying. The load rating is pretty important. I'm not aware that Toyo make a tyre with the extra load rating. Please give this some thought.

No expert but a simple search shows:-

Eagle F1 G3-D3 91Y
Toyo T1-S 91Y
Toyo T1-R 95Y (RF)

Thanks WB, I did a quick check and Bedhog is correct that these all meet the criteria.
