I always wondered what the un-restricted bhp of one of these cars was. I asked Subaru a few times but no reply! Seems like and its no suprise we have the same or more power as the old group B cars if the 34mm re-strictor was not there. Does any one close to Subaru know what the torque would be and if subaru has done any accelaration times without the re-strictors inn? Would be nice to know


Its a pitty there is not many subarus in rally cross, Ive seen TWO! with 600-700 bhp we would have been up there with BIG, Pat Doran in his RS 200, got to be the fastest car I have seen

I doubt very much they'd test that sort of thing; there's no useful information to gain, and every chance of breaking something expensive. Just because the engine can theoretically produce massive power doesn't mean the drivetrain can handle it, nor does it mean the engine wouldn't blow itself to bits in the process.

what they mean, is if they were allowed to run without a restrictor, that they could build a 600-700hp engine, not that just removing the restrictor from the current engine would instantly give 600-700hp.

There are people with over 600hp on subaru road cars.

Like yourself Pavlo I get what you and Andy say, would be good watching the wrc with that kind of power output but the old group B thing would no doubt happen again and the drivers and spectators would be hurt.
