Points stay on your licence for 4 years but they only count for totting up for 3 years. This is to stop the cheeky drivers ( lets say for arguments sake they have 9 points already)who get caught late in the 3rd year and drag out the judicial process into the fourth year. This is to stop drivers with pending convictions wiping there earlier points off their licence before the last conviction is put on. And so get banned

1) Slow down when you see the police!
2) Treat other drivers respectfully
3) Slow down for hazards
4) Indicate properly
5) Use the lanes correctly
Not hard...
In built-up areas it's an other matter - and there I stick to 30 in a 30, 40 in a 40.
Oh, and I do 30k miles a year in my STi, and have a clean license :-)

Had 10 at one point when I was younger - although I was damn unlucky with all of them.
Now I'm just lucky I reckon - although even though I 'enjoy' the car (and my bike!) I like to think I'm sensible and never put anyone else in danger and take it very easy in built up areas.
