Legacy Twin Turbo
Does anyone know the performance figures for a standard 1995 Legacy Twin Turbo import please?
What should the top speed be after De-Limiting and will it be revving it's nuts off at 90 on the motorway? Is there much of a performance difference between a manual and an auto?
Also how do they compare with the WRX import?
Has anyone driven the Legacy?
Cheers
Paul.
BTW i've been on the Legacy forums but am struggling to find stats etc.

Give me a chance...
I've got a manual 1997 GTB and an Impreza STi V3 wagon. GTB is a real stealth cruiser and has wicked acceleration @ 80+ mph. Impreza is a bit more manic.
TT Legacy estate held the land speed record for estate cars - 249 kmh for the 1993 240 bhp model and 270 kmh for the 1998 280bhp model
Not sure of the 0-60 time though.
Have a look at one of my previous threads for BHP

Well I've certainly had mine at an indicated 140 on a "cough" private road. Wasn't trying for top speed just accelerates pretty quick at the 100 speed when the second turbo get going. For cruising it's at 3,000 rpm at 70 mph in 5th. Is the auto any good - no idea I travelled 600 miles to get a manual Only 10% of the cars built are manual boxes. Downsides are fuel consumption, not as bad as the Impreza but pretty close and insurance group 20. Upsides - stealth (no one really looks at it), comfort, space and damn good value on the imports.

Paul I am not sure but what model but "TurboSteve" has got a legacy Turbo.
I can’t comment myself, I have seen them out and about.
when I have come across them on an enthusiastic drive they really do seam to be lively.

Cheers Kev and Mick,
It seems that the Legacy may have a Jap ratio gearbox with quite low ratios from what you say? Was it flat out at 140 Kev?
Turbosteve had an old style UK legacy Mick, different animal from what i'm on about.
The reason i'm interested is because although my JDM WRX is seriously quick to 100mph, the Jap gearing is awkward to get to grips with,in a nutshell it's really low geared. It's not an RA either.
I fancy either a UK Impreza,a Twin Turbo Legacy or a Legnum VR4. There is just a lot of crap about at the moment.

Paul, at 140mph it was nowhere near flat out.
The land speed record for estate cars for the Legacy Twin Turbo with the 280 bhp engine is 270 kmh which is 168 mph. Bear in mind the cars used were factory standard. The STi V3 I have is a bit more low geared - hence it's 0-60 is 4.7 secs. At a guess I'd say the GTB is 6.5 secs or thereabouts.

I have had an indicated 144 out of my B4, it was not maxed out, but I got scared after that.
The book says 158 as top speed and I have seen 0 - 60 down as low 5 secs, however it does not take much to make the clutch smell !!

Had a legacy turbo about 5 years ago. Would do 140 (on the speedo) 5 up on the private driveway effortlessly, with lots left in it. If you drove it hard it would pretty much stay with my 5.0 Chimera upto about 100 (though it did need a new clutch not long after trying this a few times - not helped by driving it like a monkey - which at the time weighed in at around a grand - engine out job - the flywheel also had cracks in and had to be changed - very warm clutch - I did mention the monkey). Still, it was a great car.
