Default 2001 WRX

Hi there,

I'm thinking about getting a 2001 model WRX for use as everyday transport. Can anyone advise where I can get full technical details on this model?

I appreciate the looks aren't too everyones taste but the cars look excellent value for money. I'm not ready to buy just yet but will be looking for a standard 4 door car with a FSH.

Any advice on what to look for would be very much appreciated. What are the bad points? What the good points.

All the best.

Martin.

Go on the IWOC site - there is an article with lot's of facts etc. about the MY01. I've had one for about 15 months; totally standard WRX and I average 30MPG. Go for one with full Subaru SH and one that someone has obviously cherished. Get one with tracker already fitted - it makes insurance easier to get. Morette headlights make the bugeye the best all-round value for money model in my opinion.

insurance groups appear to vary between insurance companys. I`ve been told mine is group 19, then 20, then 32!!!!

On my 2nd bugeye now myself. I wasnt happy with the wrx in standard form, the brakes are not good enough IMO, and its not particually fast, plus, it handles like a big lump of jelly. But after springs/upgraded disks+pads/engine mods its a whole new car
Comfort in the WRX is better than the classic shape for everyday usage. Again IMO, and i`ve had 2 x classic, 2 x bugeyes.
