Default Prodrive Y pipe... Worth it?

Is this i worthwhile mod to make, I understand you cannot buy this part seperatly from Subaru.

So would it be a worthwhile buy for my 02 WRX, at the mo all i have is a full de-cat, but do plan future power increase, when the wallet allows..

Any advice would be great people.

Thanks

They're the same as the Samco hoses, so jusy buy a whole kit, and pay less than Prodrive prices!

Cookstar

are you talking about the alloy "y" pipe that comes with the STi intercooler which fits underneath ??

This is needed if switching from a WRX intercooler to a STi intercooler on a WRX newage I forgot to get one and the alloy "Y" piece was about £120 quid

Assuming it's the one on ebay, i'm pretty sure it's going well over the cost of a whole kit..... i'd back out and get the kit!!

current price is £91.....

graham goode.. not even the cheapest source... £85.

Thabks mate, thats the one. just get into this ebay bidding sindrome where you keep bidding cos someone out bid you. And yes i have paid over the odds for the same reason before.

Just the Y piece was £45 plus delivery from Rally design 01795 531871. Part is TB833, or the whole kit was £61 I think part is TCS168...

On a standard car? They look ok, but that's about it. There is always the risk of the standard pipe splitting, especially when they age. On a modified car with higher boost pressures - almost certainly worth having an uprated one to prevent failure.

Whether they improve performance I suspect it is negligible. They are smoother, internally, than the stock item and are less prone to bulging/expanding. Maybe some of the experts who have taken measurements will be along to say if they do improve the performance.
