Maniac EVO driver

I had the same experience with a green Forester S-Turbo on Tuesday evening, coming from the A40 towards Rickmansworth.
Mad bloke overtook a long line of traffic into a bend, was still alongside the lead car as they went through the bend. OK, it's a wide road, but that's seriously stupid driving.

To be honest I think his intention was to get me to 'race' him. To be honest I would have entertained the idea if a) the roads were empty b) he was'nt mad. I do have his plate (V60 EV*) you can guess the rest!!

I take it the speed limit on the road was 60? Were the other cars doing 60? I do not agree with the over taking on a blind corner... or doing it as Mr Senna like you say.. but if he is in a long que of traffic and they are not doing 60, i'm sure most people will consider overtaking one by one and work there way up the line if it is clear and a chance to break free of the traffic. I do?
Absolutely no need to go up behind a learner driver like that! , I've actually seen this quite alot wherever i am in the country and see learner drivers. The amount of people that go up and sit right behind them is unbelievable. Whenever i am behind one... i slow down and make a fairly wide gap and for cars close up behind me then fine... but at least a new and unexperienced driver will not be rushed into making any mistakes by being nervous.
I was on an AIM lesson , and went into a 30mph - busy area and mr cossie overtakes me - i know this is 6 points straight away but do these people not read or keep up to date with the highway code?
Oh well... Ian

If its where I think you mean, on the A412 just before or after the Bosch building, I reckon someone does that every time I go through there.
Black Laguna this a.m. Maroon Fiasco last night.
Both sitting right on my tail before making the move. *****.

Just thought I'd share this one with you......Last night I was on the A130 in Essex at about 8.30 ish when MR EVO starts weaving throught the traffic behind me like he was Mr Senna!! Fine I thought!
At the next junction where I am turning right, he dives in front of me causing me to brake heavily. Then when the lights change off he goes overtakes 3 cars ON A BLIND BEND!!! then he screachs of and decides ''How about I fly up behind this learner at well over 100mph, that will be fun''.............Bear in mind the road was busy!!! Oh he made my blood boil!!

If you got his number call Rayleigh Traffic Unit and report him. The chances are they will go round for a word in his shell like, even more so if you are part of a group of people complaining about the same car.

Lancat,
Spot on. On the A412 just after the Bosch building (on the right).
As I said, it's a wide road, but Mr Forester was straddling the white lines as he went though the right hand bend at the bottom othe hill. Probably easy for an oncoming car to avoid him is necessary, but the risk taken was enormous - imagine if Forester-boy had met his alter ego travelling in the opposite direction.

I had an "interesting" encounter with a grey EVO IV on Saturday. I came off the M25 at the A10 going north and there's a queue of traffic in the inside lane to turn left at the next roundabout. As i passed up the outside, the Evo (who was indicating left) pulls in behind me working his dump valve overtime gagging for a race.
He the tried to overtake as i pull onto the roundabout. On the next stretch of dual-carriageway he was nailed to my bumper and then went for an undertake even though i was coming up on a slow moving car and had to jump on his brakes to avoid a collision. My girlfriend in the passenger seat was still blissfully unaware of what was going on as i pulled in to let him pass. We then approached a set of traffic lights and i filtered left up towards W Cheshunt to avoid him and he then cut across 3 lanes to follow me. We continued for about another mile in a general direction away from where i think he wants to go trying to ignore whats going on behind me. He then really started to **** me off once i realised i was now approaching home so i timed my entry into the next roundabout so he couldn't follow directly (or try an overtake). I then managed to put about 1/4 mile between us before i entered a residential area and i could see him approaching in the mirrors at high speed. He was obviously very upset at being shown the way and overtook on the wrong side of the traffic islands, over speed bumps as we pass a kids playground on the left and old peoples home on the right.
He then continues on the wrong side of the road and narrowly avoided a head on collision with a car coming the other way off the roundabout.
I then went in the other direction and still can't believe he followed me just for a race.

Mmmm.....
seems that some EVO drivers have to prove a point?
I had a similar experience with an EVO IV near Whalley (Lancs). Foreign plates but RHD, this guy was either seriously mad or Tommi Makinen's mate as he overtook a lie of standing traffic (at red lights), weaved in and out of morning & school runs in a 30 zone and then disappeared on the M66 into Manchester in a plume of SUL smoke.
Entertainment you don't need!

I bumped into a comedien in an EVO a few months back while I was at work, who decided he wanted a race off the Wilton Road/Buckingham Palace Road junction at 3am.
Such a shame that he'd failed to notice that myself & my colleague were in full uniform complete with yellow vests with my hat on the dash board. Picked on the wrong scoob methinks!!

I was told a scare story by a policeman who said that this guy with a brand new Evo 6 had trashed his tyres so much in a week that they were almost bald and he'd totalled his car on a wall.
High performance car, low performance driver methinks

This thread doesn't make much of a story really does it, if you swap the word EVO for ESCORT. The remarks made here could apply to any vehicle, and are daily occurrences. Don't victimize your closest blood relatives.

Interesting point Steve P, and we all have to accept that there are people out there in all types of cars that are pratts...I have a local Suzuki Swift driver who thinks he's Mr Senna, but it takes the p*** when he comes through a housing estate at c60mph (particularly when you've young kids).
referring to an earlier post in this thread, best way to really wind someone up (assuming you don't want to play), is slow for a roundabout and wait...and wait...then pull out at the last chance before another car comes round !

Sunlip, having re-read, it does sound like that ! I guess I'm making the assumption that anyone doing so is using their brain and making a safe entry to the roundabout, but preventing the following car from doing so....it's my way of telling someone to leave me alone, I don't want to risk my licence, if you see what I mean.

I usually find a light dab on the brake pedal with the left foot (whilst applying my right foot to the gas obviously) causes the idiot attempting to snog my rear bumper to have second thoughts. Only works a couple of times on any one car though!!!

Scooby Senior
No light dab. Just completely ignore the temptation to retaliate, watch the gaps between you & any car in front of you, because the car tailgating you will have less reaction time.
