I would argue that its not the brand, but the quality that is imp. You should be looking at a fully Synth (which AFAIK Magnatec isn't) oil of the RIGHT grade. The highly regarded ones on here are Silkolene Pro S, Motul, and Millers IIRC. Now, since I'm not a technical expert, I'm going to leave the suggestions as to what grade is best to someone more in the know than me. Try Oilman on here, or David from API engines.

If it makes any odds, I use Silkolene Pro S 10w 50 on my MY99 Classic.

Regards,

NS04

The standard oil for scoobs is 10w40 semi synthetic, you can go for a nice 15w50 rated oil like mobil 1 motorsport or motul 300v, DONT go for 0 rated oils or below the 40 rating, ie 0w40 isnt good but a 10w40 is

I wonder what back-hander someone got for that one? :P

PSLewis is correct (please don't make me repeat it )- oilman it is.

As long as you don't use an oil that is lower quality than what is recommended by Subaru then you 'should' be fine. Grade seems to be becoming a matter of choice rather than a hard and fast rule. 10W40, 10W50 and 15W50 are usually recommended by the people I speak to.
