RAC are not the cheapest, but they have been very effective in rescuing me from some difficult situations. Even transported a sick car from my house after advising me to upgrade my membership over the phone, saving £150 quid straight away.

yeah RAC were the dearest compared to AA and greenflag
but like you say , if they're the best then its worth it

you get what you pay for

Try these people, (AutoAid) £29 per year; its a 'pay & claim' service (refunds within 14 days) rather than an 'automatic' one, but you cant fault them and its £120 cheaoper than the RAAC.

I've been with the RAC for a total of about 13 years now - they've always been quite good to me...

A few years ago I used to have an Orion 1.6i Ghia - it was only 2 years old at the time, but was very unreliable. I was taking my girlfriend back home to Bristol, when going across the Severn bridge, a strange hissing noise started coming from the engine...

My membership had expired the previous day (but being a hard up student at the time thought I'd hold off on renewing for a bit).

The local RAC control centre wasn't too far away, so ambled slowly into their compound and sheepishly went into the building... I explained the situation and that I intended to renew, so they got a patrolman to come and have a look.

They couldn't fix the car (one of the funny shaped engine hose popes had split), so they provided the girlfriend with a lift home and towed my car back home to Wales. All this when I wasn't technically a member

Sure enough, I learned my lesson, and have stayed with them since!

you can get free green flag recovery with a barclays bank additions account!

Few weeks ago we needed some recovery,(missus locked keys in car, with baby in back!) i called my "free" green flag recovery, missus called her AA. The AA where called half hour before green flag.
Green flag arrived first, very quickly, within about 30 mins.
It took the AA an hour to even assign the job, wouldnt never use them again!
