Default scooby shoot out would this make you have ago

so why not doit like this

cars are rated

14 to 13 secs

13 to 12 sec

12 to 11 sec

11 to feking fast class

then anything under 11 is classed as top class,so then you can have a shoot out for each class top 4 cars and the winner going head to head in the final shoot out (the winners of each class have a shoot out at the end for the grand winner)

so then everyone has a chance of winning some thing this is why your not getting the people why enter when you now your going to get your **** kick this is why i dont enter totb because how can i compete with cars that have £50,000 under the bonnet just my 2p worth.

so if you do it this way people with light mods have a chance

well what do you lot think

answers on a post card to -----

forgot if you put car down for say 13 secs to 14 sec and you do a 12 then you move up a class

from the people i have spoken with, the cost factor is the main reason why they wont enter.

ive decieded to save my cash and go abroad for the weekend with the missus instead

It does make more sense Simon.

After all, the number who get a sub 12 second run is limited. If your car is only capable of a late 12, then you know it would be a waste of money to try and compete knowing that you can go to a RWYB for much less.

Maybe the entry price should be lowered for the slower categories too.

i now what your mean in the price,i just thought that this would make it a bit more fair on the slower cars,to give them a chance of winning something

Si,

I think you are spot on right. It adds a bit of competition at all levels and will encourage participation.

Well Done that man

best thing is just think you get 2 cars at say 13 to 12 and there times are 12.1 and 12.12 now that would be down to nerve and skill

I entered, not sure why, other than I enjoy driving my car, as I've never done anything like this before. I know the likes of Andy F, Pavlo, David Wallis and the rest will choke my induction with their dust BUT if it's not supported by the 'also rans' it'll die a death. 45 quid for a day out, why not?

Maybe even get a good result in the 15 - 14 sec. group

cheers for the feedback. if at the end of the week it looks like we wont get toward the minimum entry numbers required for scoobs only, we will have to consider opening it up to other clubs and groups to fill the places remaining. the class based system is one they already run at elvington anyway on rwyb days, and is something we may then implement for the scoobyshootout entrants in addition to the main trophies and awards, to offer a further incentive to the "lesser spec" cars.
we will update the info to the forum at the weekend.

as far as entry costs go, unfortunately the cost is fixed and is the same for all rwyb events at Elvington when top speed and 1/4m timing is provided, its not feasible to charge any less i'm afraid. Still very good value for a full day, when you consider that "cheap" airfield days there are £89/£95 per car.

I understand where you're coming from. Just a thought as the higher cost puts off people that go to Santa Pod too.

Thumbs up My 2p worth...

Great idea

I've entered this year too, but dont expect to be competitive. Seeing as I've never done anything like this before, its more for the experience of it and seeing what my car can do.

Breaking it down into further categories means that I could be competitive as well as just having a really good day out with my car BONUS!

not 100% certain of situation at pod,but my understanding is that rwyb events there are not sanctioned events with an insurance cost per driver included, which is built into all the race entry fees for elvington events, to allow a fully timed sanctioned race meeting. additonally we run less cars and are putting on a top speed trap as well, hence higher entry cost.

Dont understand why people are moaning at £45, thats a half decent night on the beers, which gives you a hangover anyway.

I did the shootout last year, and apart from the intense heat on the day it was bloody excellent. I would be in again if I could get my 205 sorted.

As a southerner its hard to justify the cost, which is almost double the entry cost of Santa Pod and on top of that there are the travel costs.

I dont see the point really in paying so much more just to get smoked by everyone.

Houghton: If I did go I would want to compete and that category also

Bought a fully rebuilt, gas flowed and Piper cam'd engine, RR'd at 180bhp.

Its sat here, but I dont have much time to get everything fitted, and make the full engine loom for the ECU. Its all coming together now though

Its a 370mile+ round-trip. Around 6to7hours driving (round-trip). Almost 2 tanks of fuel. Thats alot just to be left standing.

Besides.....Santa Pod is very close, cheap and dont get left standing.

Did you get to the bottom of your cars power under-reading?

Done any 1/4mile runs on it yet?

It's only 334 for me, so I'm quite local

I think the power under reading must be down to PTS. it got a better figure at WRC recently. Much better place, I don't think I'll be going to PTS again. £25 for one quick run and off as opposed to £35 as many runs as it took to get a consistent result and with some engine monitoring too, far better value and nicer place

Not done a 1/4 yet, can't afford the petrol

The best thing to do with this event is to set your own goals. Last year was my first time at a 1/4 mile sprint, so I set myself some goals of not coming last (which I didnt), and breaking the 15 sec barrier, which I didnt due to intake problems and a full tank of fuel
