Cleaning Advice
I need some advice on cleaning my car. I really want to get it spanking clean. You know, a real shiny sparkle.
Wondered if you guys would give me a step by step instruction and with which products to use.
This would be much appreciated.

Wet car down (or start early whilst it's still covered in dew) and wash with car shampoo (not washing up liquid - full of salt ) in warm (not hot) water and a clean sponge. Use a different sponge to wash wheels and arch's. Rinse off with cold water and blade dry, using a Chamois for the un-bladeable bits. Now here's where personal preferences come in. I favour Meguiars products (now available in Motosave outlets) and do a ScratchX once a year to reduce swirls. Apply with a foam applicator pad and buff off with a clean cotton terry towel. You could also use the Clay Bar treatment if your paint has become overly dull or rough to the touch. Then Meguiars Gold Class Carnuba Wax, again applied with a pad and buffed with 2 towels. Twice a year I also finish the job off with a good doing with Simoniz Original Carnuba Wax, which is a biatch to put on, but it lasts like nothing else (you could get away with using it annually). Once it's been Simo'd it will only need washing with cold water, as nothing will stick to it so there's no need for detergent. You may struggle to find it though, as it doesn't sell well due to it being a PIA to apply and most people being extremely lazy

IMHO Meguiars knocks spots off Autoglym, and although what I have seen of Swissol products is very good, they aren't £150 good

Sponges & chamois are a no no !
They pick up dirt & grit & are rarely washed & usually kept in dirty buckets
Much better to use machine washable cloths !
Plus Swissol are the best products check out tests in Max Power & Classic & Sports Car this year already ! Both ends of the spectrum & won both !
