Question HELP what is this worth, sti8 05 ppp exhaust

A freind of mine has an sti8 05 prodrive exhaust, it is absolutely brand new and has all the little clamps and screws and gaskets u need to fit on your car it's still in all it's pro drive packaging. He had a ppp fitted to his car but opted for a louder exhaust, so the dealers fitted his exhast to the car and left the pro drive one out, but he had to pay the full £2000 for the ppp to be fitted, so now he wants to know what this full exhaust system is worth. this item cannot be purchased separately from a dealer and can only be ordered with a ppp.

Please give me your input on this as i have no idea as to what it's worth???

Prodrive Backboxes are about £350 new. I paid £200 for a nearly new one a few years back.

thank you Ian,

so what do you think the full system is worth, i think it has a dowpipe, high flow cat and back box and anything else you get when you order a ppp, remembering it's brand new and never been used. if i was to post it in the for sale section what price should i put it up at???

Prices for used parts would be - backbox £160, decat mid section £75 and PPP sports cat downpipe £280
If the bits are as new then 20-30% extra on these prices.
The total price as new items would be IRO £1000
They may be Prodrive "new" items but asking too much will just be matching prices for items from other (cheaper) manufacturers that are new and come with a warranty.

i'll tell my freind today that he'll get about £500 pound for the full system (being realistic) if he agrees i'll put it on the for sale post later.

I assume that your friends car is an 05MY (which would be an STi11 ) and would have still been within warranty. It may be worth pointing out to your friend that running the PPP with a different exhaust may well reduce the performance and will invalidate his warranty.

Just be aware that the SN policy will not allow you to sell on behalf of someone else. No doubt you'll buy it off of him and then sell it on

Would it fit onto an a '53 reg UK STi?

If so, whereabouts is your "friend" from? (If I bought it - it would be easier to collect it than to have it delivered and face the wrath of the wife when I got home)

So the dealer is willing to commit fraud on a customers behalf?

Mike, when a car is fitted with PPP, is the warranty with Prodrive or the supplying dealer?

If it is a Prodrive warranty, and the PPP ECU or fuel pump were to develop a fault, would you honour a warranty claim with an aftermarket exhaust equipped car?

Just curious.....

talizman

The warranty is provided by Subaru UK and it would be their decision to pay any warranty claim.

There are a couple of things to remember when changing the downpipe on an STi of course, not least that the ECU should eb recalibrated to suit and that the fuel pump may not be able to maintain the fuelling required.

Please remember that we have designed our Performance Package to work best as a PACKAGE. Changing part of it, in our experience, will see the car operating in a less than optimal way. You cannot apply the same general principles of tuning that you would to a std car ie, decatting, different exhaust etc as these changes will not have the same effect.
