Leave the engine running while you do it and cover up MAF & Inter cooler.

I've done mine loads of times without a problem, however I have heard of problems after a steam clean.

I also cleaned my scoob engine with the stuff from Halfrauds. Came up great and no problems. Just keep it running, and don't spray in the alternator! Make sure you run it till dry too.

This is mine after i'd used a can of Gunk engine degreaser and a jet wash...covering up the Ind' kit and electrics of course. Not to shabby i thought considering its a 12 year old engine bay!!

I've given advice before on what to and no to do, so do a search - I've typed it in at least 3 times before.

Being lazy I used the local car wash earlier in the week, the kind where the nice bloke jet washes your car first, had jet washed it the previous week with the engine running (as learnt from my mk4 scort) so knew what happened if you got water thru scoop/vents.

Nice bloke thought that my car was gonna blow up and jumped back 5ft, steam everywhere

Not sure this is good for the car, but it is designed to run in the British weather !! (UK Spec)

Simple really, you can jet wash your engine if you want no coverings etc etc, reason, when it rains where do you think all the surface water goes under your car?, and WHY does your engine need a clean, get the picture

CD2 mate !

Should work alright on your Scoob as the plugs are on the side.

Did my Beemer with it and filled the plug ports with water, nightmare.

Good stuff though.

steer clear of steam cleaning on petrol engines.. especially with all those sensors all over the place. I had my old diesel astra done once and it was ok although it washed off all the protective grease they put on so it start to rott away faster.
I later bought some engine cleaner from motorworld which said, spray on, leave for 10mins then wash off with water. WELL NEVER AGAIN.. after what it did. Missfires.. ECU lights flashing away. Took a good week to settle down again

Sounds like you didnt properly warm it up, and keep it running till it was dried through ?!

I know what you mean. You are supposed to warm it up first which i did. It was actually something i did to the MR2 that I used to have (not a diesel). I found out later that the water had penetrated the spark plug seals causing major shorting.
