http://www.miktec.co.uk/vids/scoobycrash2004.wmv

Found it on another forum. Anyone recognise this track day accident?

SIAL,

The Car has been on thge last 2 years 'Japfest' advertising Poster but before the Scratch,

There are four VID's of the car going very well around the Track but unfortunately that Video is the one people want to watch. IIRC it had 20+K downloads when my mate hosted it.

**** happens

Skill and Luck just ran out for the Driver

Yep I nearly did but peeps do and that's life I have always accepted the crash was due to driver error. I was successfully putting a little bit of Oversteer that day just got far more than I bargined for.

"If" I'd have regained control, I would have accepted everyones praise and I will allways accept critisium when I go wrong so I also accept the 'crap driver' comments, which to an extent is true.

Tony

Ps but I made sure I hit the passengers side, I may be a crap Driver but I'm not stupid

Thanks Guys you restore my faith Simular to a recent driving Thread, "We" don't get enought practice in correcting a Car when it "goes wrong". Most experienced Drivers would have saved the Car. IMHO

TBH I frooze for a second, as never driven the Scoob with that much oversteer before which meant I hadn't removed the opposite Lock and 300bhp took me where the wheels were pionting at the tyre wall

5 years of Trackdays and I've only had this "major off" so not to bad really

Tony

Ps I don't claim to be a good Driver, but I am Enthusiastic

"If" I'd have made it around I wouldn't have rejected the praise so I also accept the 'crap driver' comments, which to an extent is true.

I didn't mean to upset anyone or have a dig at driving standards. Sorry if I've offended, it's not my intention. I too could have when I saw it. You're braver than me, as I couldn't afford to take the risk to track my car, much as I'd love to.

We have all had our offs mate so dont worry too much about it. Even the best drivers crash when pushing on most of the time. Its how you learn if you ask me, expensive though. I can tell you i felt gutted for you mate when i saw it happen. Evo's and scoobies change direction so quickly its unreal and you have to react before it happens. Will you be tracking it at the next japfest Tony or you gonna watch this time?

Gutted for you, but good to hear you can be philosophical.

LOL at the "bit of T-Cut" comment (you have to listen carefully)

Please be assured you never offended me, I'm certainly not upset and Sh1te happens. luckely the Damage was only cosmetic the tyre wall did a good job. Car was driven 80 miles to a Bodyshop

I was just purely explaining the Circumstances of "The Crash" in a simular way as I did on the Post just after it happened.

I could tell Bull a "Cat jumped" "Something snapped" "Oil on...." etc but aint my way. I would obviously preferred to have saved it and everyone. Every Trackday I've done, that's allow pasengers I have a queue of Peeps for Passenger rides

My Mates Wife who was Passenger at the time, has already put her name down for another go

regards,

Tony

I don't think you'll be the first or the last Scoob to get it wrong at Combe......

& a contender for "What happened next ?"

Again, a bit of another SIAL Mr Pants- but a long while since I saw that. I was about to ask if anyone had that footage, but thought it might not have been appropriate in this thread

Not really sure, I just had to pay £500 excess and about £800 for tyres/wheel price difference and fog light cover difference.

I think the bill was about £9K

Just glad I had protected NCB

Car looks great now mate!

Kudos to you for the comitment and then just admiting you got it wrong, pity as you caught the initial slide brilliantly, just appears that you weren't quick enough winding off the opposite lock. No shame in that: if Rally drivers have offs then so can everyone else. They don't call is driving at the limit for nothing!

I'd never have the guts to try such big slides with my Scooby.

Hey, most have said the same so I'm well happy As I said earlier at least I tried it in a safe enviroment I didn't aim to get that much slide

Abosolutely true I'd prefered a quick rack(but would make little difference in the outcome) unfortunately I was slow and reacted instead anticipating the correction
