Legacy B4 v Impreza STI
About 12 months ago we had an Impreza WRX SL Wagon, which we enjoyed immensly.
Stupidly I decided in a moment of madness to swap it for a euro import Porsche Boxster. Anyway to cut a long story short that was the worst thing I could have possibly done and so 12 months on, I am back speaking with the local Scooby dealer.
He has available a Legacy B4 Saloon or a 2005 Impreza STI. The question is "Which One", dealer is steering me todards the Legacy even though an STI with Prodrive Pack would be dearer.

depends on what you want.
The b4 is not a nimble s the Impreza, but it's way quieter and drives soooo nice...
Best take them both out, 24 test drive on each, then make your mind up, if you can live with the cabin noise of the STI, and you prefer a sporty ride, then the Imprza will get your vote. But if youwant a refined rocket ship, with comfort and stelf-like looks the Impreza can only dream about, then the Leggie will get your vote...

I'm guessing that you mean a Spec B. Had a 24 hour test drive last week, it was very nice and quite a bit of omph, but the fuel computer showed that it did 19.5 mpg (my GT-B does 23mpg), and since they are naturally aspirated, there isn't a lot of chance of modifications. Go for the STi or go try a Spec B import with the 2 litre turbo unit.

Sorry yes, should have said Spec B, not B4.
Anyway, I have taken both cars out today and although the STI was a riot, we have decided to swap the Boxster for the Spec B.
I am hoping we have made the right decision, but one thing I have learn't is that the idea of a Porsche being good on residuals is a myth as far as I am concerned and we wont be going there again.
So scooby no.2 here we come
