Tint Removal (Nightmare)
Guys ,
Im doing a bit of tarting up on the WRX (Just in from jap land) .... The thing is Im trying to remove the tints .........got the rear door one's off but the back window is a real nightmare as its a different Tint/Film its well stuck on, and is only coming off in tiny pieces Its gonna take me years to get it off !
Its u'v started so now you gotta finish it kinda thing.
So Is there anything out there that will remove this or something that will dissolve the film ??
Also dont want to damage The heat strips .....
Any ideas ??
Cheers

Try a hair dryer to warm the film up and start at 1 corner then just keep heating the point of contact from the edge you have peeled and the stuff thats still stuck on.

Tar and grime remover will take off the residue.
A hair dryer isn't always the best option. Depends on the hair dryer really.
A steam wallpaper stripper will heat it up and make it flexible so it doesn't keep breaking off in small pieces. Then use the hairdryer to dry the wet upholstery.
I'm not 100% sure if it will damage the heater strip in the process. Just pull it off in the same direction as the heater strips.

Heat it up with the wallpaper stripper and use WD40 to remove the sticky stuff. worked for me!
WD40 is a great thing for removing paint and sticky stuff from anything.... just let it penetrate a little
Theres no miracle for getting tints off it does take time but WD40 helps

Elbow Grease is the only answer by the look of it
How much would it cost for a specialist to remove it ?
Stay in work do some overtime then pay to have the damn stuff removed,
That's another option to consider !!
Try an art shop for some "Label Remover" it will get the sticker residue off a treat... I have a box full in work but dare not send you any in the post as it is highly inflammable !!!
Be carefull with a knife as you may damage your heated screen !!
What about getting another rear screen from a scrappy and getting that fitted ?
I like the last option myself...

heat the film with a heat gun and peel off spray the window with windowlene or similar
cos it softens the glue left behind and scrap it of with a blade thats the easyest way i have found.can be quite messy tho
