What's High Mileage on a Classic?
Up to 145k on my MY98 wagon.
Only changes are new rear shocks, new clutch (those timed 0-60s didn't help!), new disks,
What kind of mileage are others up to?
And I always thought turbos had a limited lifespan!!!
I'd welcome feedback.

146,000 kin ell my 98 has only done 49,000, Glad to hear they do high miles though without too much trouble

Having driven (I'm sure the fortnight I had it for probably accounted for most of the clutch wear 
) and having been driven in this 145K wagon I can honestly say that it's not driven with a massive amount of sympathy!!!! Usual warm up cool down procedures - but other than that, the right foot certainly isn't applied lightly.
Good stuff matey - and I hope my MY03 is still going strong when closing in on 150K... though at the current rate I'll need to reapply for my license before it gets there. 13K and counting.... original set of everything still (other than coolant and aircon radiators - but that's another story).

MrShades - MY03 - isn't that a bit misleading - what STi 8 - equal length headers and a good few other mods as well. You'll be lucky to see that many out it matey...... sound advice I was given by those boys at the Powerstation - if you don't want any problems leave it well alone!!
However, I want mind a bit of that 330 bhp you're kickin out - but you can keep that six speed box!!

MY95 uk turbo standard saloon, on 135k and hopefully fingers crossed, its still running beautifully !!
Went through an MOT about a month ago, with not one problem.
AND NO REPAIRS BEEN MADE TO IT BESIDES THE USUAL SERVICES

My MY98 is on 132,000 miles, only faults from new were a dump valve problem fixed under warranty at 200 miles and a rocker cover oil leak I fixed 3 weeks ago for £55 (parts). New clutch and flywheel at 125,000 miles and nothing else apart from servicing/discs/pads and a rear exhaust section and a a new battery. Still drives like a 30,000 mile one....

I sold my last Scooby (silver 95 'N' wagon) 4 years ago with 149,000 miles on the clock. And its still on the road according to the RAC data check (last owner change July 2004)

feel a bit of a lightweight in this company 
but my99 uk turbo with 91.7k on the clock. clutch was changed before I bought it @ 20k, so thats only done 71.7k
3rd set of discs, god knows how many pads, new suspension, as the originals had given up, everything else, including the turbo, all still the same

My mate HANLEY, sold his Scoob last year, with 175,000 on it! It'd been company owned till 110k, so it was a no expensed spared car. He serviced it every 3k, and RAGGED it sometimes to an inch of its life but it was still running strong when he sold it. Trick is, change the oil regular i think, and enjoy EVERY mile you put on it

Just thought some of you might be interested to know that the service manager at a local scoob main dealer after some banter conceded that once a scoob has 100k on the clock his considered opinion (and he really knows his onions!!) is that servicing every 10k is plenty often enough. And that's what I'm now doing.
Anyone else who is 'really in the know' got a view on this?

You MUST carry out the **** Oil Change or your engine will explode after the Oil change!!
The MAF Sensor MUST also be replaced at 6 monthly intervals, or Piston Number 3 will melt!!

Or just do what I do .......................... treat it like a normal car!! - but do NOT tell the ****'s!!
By the way, 58,500miles now and STILL original Brake Pads .... I'm going for the 60k mark!

Oil changed about every 6000 miles (or when I remember)
Clutch at 90k, secondhand gearbox at 110k, more brake pads than I care to admite and it's had piston slap since the day I bought it
I've done four airfield days in the last 18 months, countless laps of Castle Combe at action days and takes me to work every day, very quickly and still drives sweet as...
The harder I drive it the more it likes it

98MY Turbo 86k miles from brand, spanking new.
3rd set rear disks, 4th set rear pads, 4th set front disks (counting change to 294mm disks), 7/8th set front pads, exhaust centre section, new shocks all round and a partridge in a pear tree!

Isn't it great to read the reasons Subaru are considered to go on forever .... those that turn their cars into unreliable piles of poooo should take notice.
Modify your cars to within an inch of the design constraints, or over, and you ask for trouble ........... generally the Engine rebuilders get hold of these abused motors.
It gives a warm feeling, doesn't it?? After so many threads appearing to say that the Engines are so delicate, so weak, so dependant upon mystically procedures, so specialised, ........ so much bollox - its an Engine, a strong Engine and its as strong as a Ox if treated properly!!
