Default boost help

Boost controller is it worth it?
Car is fine 1st and 2nd but 3rd and fourth goes a bit flat not gauges so dont know what its boosting to.
which 1?
what boost? etc etc

my98 uk with cat back system

no use having a boost controller without a boost gauge

on a my98 boost should be around 0.9bar in 4th/5th

Thanks for that does electronic boost controller act like a gauge or do you need one also?

WAs thinking of defis but lots of dosh do look the part
how mush can it be raised without problems and what sort of bhp gain we talking about rough ideas thanks

Its not just a case of turning up the boost, you really need to think about fueling as well. Which is why remapping is far better. Bit difficult with an my98 though. Can be tricky just turning boost up as well as cold weather can affect it and you will hit the fuel cut about ~1.2bar (I think on an my98). Best to do a search on boost controllers and read a few threads and peoples experiences with them and setting them up.

yep boost cut is 1.19bar... used to run my dawes at 1.17

ive got an electronic boost controller and a separate guage on MY98 ... its worth having a one but i have noticed a BIG difference since having the downpipe de cat fitted .... i would get the front pipe changed 1st instead of the boost contoller...

but dont get a boost contoller without getting a guage ... thats what i was told any how ...

Thanks all think it will have to be down pipe first but would just like to make the boost more stable so will look into controllers at a later date. mot next week then pipe me thinks now then which one lol he we go again

do what i did mate .... have the downpipe fitted by the people that done the MOT ... lol
