Unhappy Removing melted plastic?

Got a 94 WRX in Novemeber which has a Scorpion centre and back box on it. The tailpipe is quite big and sits about 1cm under the bumper, maybe less in fact and has melted it, looks to have been that way for quite a while.

Question is how do I get that melted plastic of the tailpipe cos it looks a bit pants

Also how do I stop it happening again?

Without fitting a smaller pipe, there's not much to do apart from cutting a section out of the bumper and surrounding the cut-out with some heatproof material.

Personally I think the big gay exhaust pipe looks more pants than the bumper melting but each to their own eh!

If it's thermo plastic it *should* soften & come off when the exhaust is hot

If you've got one, put it in a chest freeze overnight, it may just flick off then..?

Same as the old buble gum in the carpet trick.
