CAT D...............
hi everyone,
how do i know if the car is a Cat D or not, does it shows on the V5?? or it can only tell on HPI checks??
please help me out asap

HPi will tell you if the car is a CAT D write off....

doesnt show on logbook mate,
my old type RA was a cat c that wasnt on either

no it wont im in the salvage trade so i do know there was talk of it being on there but i havnt come across it and ive repaired a lot of cat c/d

It is on the new style log books, at the bottom on the front page.

There will be no mention of whether the vehicle has been 'written-off' on your log book as this isnt a matter for the DVLA but: its highly likely that a V23 will have been submitted (either by the insurance company or by an attending police officer) and this will be recorded on the PNC. Expect a lot of police officers to tell you that 'its been a write-off'.....

Dunno if there is a particular set of circumstances for it to end up on there. I will have another look tomorrow and tell you what it says exactly

Ok, haven't had a chance to look at my mates log book again, but have done a bit of checking. It seems that only cat C and upwards will show on the log book not cat D.
