Newage WRX owners - are we the poorer relation?
Maybe it's me, but everyone is very quick to slag the newage WRX off. I know it's not the quickest thing on the planet, but is is an Impreza. I sometimes feel that unless you own an STi then you don't really count...
Does anyone else feel the same or is it just me? I wish I'd got an STI myself, but couldn't run to one new - and never really thought about S/H.
Anyways I'm going to go and have another drink

BTW, the STI stickers on the fog lamp covers come as standard when you buy them. I am intending on removing the stickers and getting something else, i.e. WRX or prodrive

Been trying for months to get some seats...they seem bloody popular.
Car looks nice - have you got any pictures with the seats fitted? Were they easy to fit? Where did you get them from?

The WRX is the poorer relation to the STi in the same way that Danni Minouge is the poorer relation to kylie! ;-)
Both great cars, they differ in price and character, you pays your money etc....
BTW If you can afford a new WRX, you can afford a lightly used STi, or get the PPP which makes the WRX faster than a standard spec STi.

Stop moaning.
If you think that New Age WRX is the poorer relation, try owning a Standard looking DBM Classic Wagon.
You will be alone out there with one.
Nobody sees you, nobody asks questions about the car. I will have to put stickers and big shiny wheels on to get noticed.
I'd love to have a New Age WRX, but can't aford one. You are very lucky to have one. Now stop moaning and enjoy the car !!!!!!

Not sure I would want to make a WRX look like an STI or out perform it but it is not up to me to judge those that do.
I might buy another Scooby if the MY06 is any good, I might look at an Evo - as lon as I am happy.
Cheers

I have a WRX SL and by no means do I feel the poor relation. In fact a lot of peeps think my car is an STi
I'm going to upgrade either this year or next depending on what spec the "new" STi will have. I've heard rumours that the 2006 model may have equel length headers which if true means no flat 4 burble and I'll be buying one of the last Sti 9/10s as the noise and performance are key to my ownership. Losing the burble isnt part of my equation.
Anyhow if you still feel like the poor relation come and join us at the Essex Scooby Crew meets you'll find you are made more than welcome
Oh and corner

Not another of these threads chill people, chill!
The only reason you should want an STi is that you've driven your WRX to the extreme and decided you've found and mastered it's limits and you need a new challenge, not because every time an STi flys by you hide your head in shame!
The best example of this is my business partner who's got a DB7 parked up in his garage most of the week and he drives a lowly Audi A4 1.8 the rest of the time to go about his daily business, the fact that he doesn't have 450bhp under his foot and a Austin Martin badge on the back doesn't make him the poor 'un.
So in answer to your question, no!

I could have bought a new MY04 Sti but decided to get the MY05 WRX PPP as it seemed a better option for the type of driving I do, ie mostly motorway with the occasional blast. Also I preferred the understated looks at my time of life
That's not to say I might get an STi later as the MLC bites a bit deeper
