Talking Do I order Porsche 997 or the T25 ?

i am in the wonderfully lucky position to now order my dream car namely a 997 Porsche , was all ready in december to place the order , then along came evo magazine and reviewed the T25 , now i have already a silver MY04 STI PPP which is an awesome machine , but the porsche always beckoned me because of its sheer class etc , but now the T25 has been thrown into pot and here i am in huge mental turmoil on whether to spend a huge amount of hard earnt cash and some finance for my dream of dreams , or do i get no finance and buy myself a 400 bhp beast that is awesome on performance , but at the same time would not feel as cool driving along as a porsche. ive been at poverty door a couple of times in my life on benefit etc but a little business i started has steadily grown and has now given me this amazing predicament! im losing sleep over this and just cant decide so please chaps lets hear some constructive arguments to make me choose one or other!

HELP

I would take the Porsche.
Yes the T25 may be quicker in some places where the Porsche isn't but hey that wouldn't worry me.

Great so now I have no chance of spotting you!

I vote for the Porsche, lets face it you could get hit by a bus tommorow. You might not get the chance to do this again!

Cant believe you are having to ask the question ........ Go and buy the 997 or you will regret it forever.

For the kind of money your talking (70k for decent spec on a 997), I'd go for a 996 Turbo. faster and will lose less money. Looks better too IMO.

If you must go for a 997, make sure you go for the S model. Could also go for a GT3, if you get the 'comfort' model, it could easily be used as an every day car.

Whilst the T25 is an awesome peice of kit for the price, it really can't be a serious contender with 70k burning a hole in your pocket, for a whole host of reasons.

Though experienced by myself and witnessed by another SN member, apparently this simply isn't the case

Anyone wanna buy my 996 so I can go and get myself a Supra?
If anyone would be kind enough to swap thier council flat for my house, that would be great. I've also convinced my girlfriend to give up modeling, put on 4 stone and wear leggins.

Live the dream!

996 Turbo or GT3.

T25 isn't 400bhp. It's 355bhp.

One word - Depreciation!

Buy the Porker or sit there with a pile of £50 notes chucking them into the bonfire for the T25 .......

drive the porsche extensively.

Relish the feeling ti gives you and then ask yourself if it is worth the 35k premium over the t25.

Yes the t25 will depreciate but so will the 997, unless you chop it in very quickly.

If it is something you have tod, then do it fro a few months, then chop it in for the T25 and know that you can say you have done it.

The 997 is meant to be out of this world and possibly the greatest car ever. I find that when you build something up in your mind for most of your life, you tend to be dissapointed.

I also think that if you have been poverty struck a few times then you know about hard times.

If you have a nice fast car already, my gut reaction would be to invest the money you have in more property once the market drops and wait until you are in a position that you don't need to finance any of the porsche and you don't have any mortgages etc to worry about ever.

Cars are great, but ultimately they dissapoint and depreciate. Security is wonderfully rewarding all imho of course!

Hmmm, now which would be more sensible... Selling drugs out of a Subaru Impreza or a Porsche??

ROFL - i am not involved in the drug business thankfully (website business - nearly as many sharks tho )

Thank you for all brilliant comments , really listening to all concerened , even the investment man , but sadly im a life is for living theorist who wants great memories , not sitting at home counting pennies....

spoke to the t25 boys and with the new engine they can expect 380-390 bhp so its not that far off 400 .............

Who cares if the T25 is faster in some areas.

You've already got a Subaru.

Get the 997

ps - according to the bloke who writes for Autocar the standard 997 is the better of the two cars to drive

Damn right. Get a 993 Turbo 4 - the last of the air-cooled models. £50k should get you a very, very good one, depreciation isn't a factor, and the styling is absolutely timeless. 408bhp, sub-4s 0-60mph, sub-10s 0-100mph, and a 1/4 mile in around 12s at 115mph+.

I like the 997 - but you'll always have the depreciation of having a brand new car. 996 never did anything for me...

Getting back onto the original topic, I've no idea what a T25 is(other than a Garrett turbo), so I'll refrain from passing comment .

Blimey, I wish my drive looked like that!!

Back on topic, has to be the Porsche anyday!! And theres a lot to be said for a 996 Turbo, then you wont accelerate and think 'oh I wish I'd got that T25', whereas u might in a standard 997.

I don't know why you're so undecided between the two?

I mean how does a Subaru T25 forester compare to a Porsche anyway ?????
