Question 05 STi Newbie

I am now officially a Scooby owner, picked up my new crystal grey STi yesterday. 1000 miles is going to be a long time coming. I haven't had time to become one with the car yet, however a couple of things that someone could confirm or give advise on. The first being the speakers are so crap, I could not believe it, I guess that they are just not powerful enough, what is the best route to change these??
The second thing is the gearbox is pretty tight and very difficult to engage second gear when going from 3rd/4th down to 2nd, is this usual in a new car? will it loosen up?

Hi

Yeah, the standard speakers are'nt that great. The gearbox will free up in time. Enjoy the 1000 mile running in period, you'll never get the same fuel economy again

welcome to the Club, there are Two normal quotes off 'Newbies'

1 Never spend any more money on Mods
2. The STD Exhuast sounds too loud

Gear change losens up after a time and when warm

Snap same as me!

Speakers are crap...The gearbox will loosen up. Have you gone for the PPP??

I would recommend it, although would advise that you wait until 1000 miles or later.

Enjoy!

Default KITCHEN FOR WIFE INFINITY KAPPAS FOR U

Standard speakers are virtually flat single paper cone ****e. If you dont want to change the interior of a brand new car (I didn't) then may I suggest Infinity Kappa 6 inch door speakers (60.5 I think). They have a seperate cross over which can be housed in the tweeter blanks in the door. Speakers are around £200 but tippy top quality and with a bit of sound deadening as well (approx £25 for both doors) trim rattle is more or less eliminated, unless you play the Mad Capsule Markets above "25"
Excellent sound staging and separation. If you just want volume the non Kappa Infinity's are around £120
