PPP Delays

PPP Delays
Hi All,
I have ordered an 05 STi with ppp. Originally the dealer said that the ppp was available and no problems with stock so I arranged a cover note etc. only to be informed an hour later that the ppp was not available yet due to delays and they have no idea when it would be but would probably be in the new year. Does anyone know haw long the delays are likely to be as I am desparate to get my hands on my new car (currently euro wrx)?

There isnt much point in fitting the PPP until the car has a few miles under its belt anyway, so your not going to miss the performance aspect of it, especially as for the first 1k your stuck at 4k rpm, and scoobs are a very tight car anyway until they have 6+k under their belt, so your car will seem slow even with the PPP, and as you get use to the power you want more, but the car is quicker than you expect or preceive, so running without the PPP and then getting it PPP'd later is probably a better idea as you can "feel" the difference in performance

Yup, its not worth it because you cannot benefit from the PPP until after you have run the car in, and even then id take it easy for anther few hundred miles.
Prodrive use to say for the classics that they performed best with a few k under the belts before the PPP was fitted, mine had 10k on the clock and the difference was very noticable.
If you want to see how different a car is between 2-7k miles, mine (MY03 JDM STi) was rolling roaded, produced 288bhp and 297lbs of torque, added an STi panel filter and that increased to 299bhp and 312lbs of torque, 5k down the line, now at 311bhp and 331lbs of torque and loosening up nicely

The general concensus is that it's better to get PPP fitted after the first 1k service. As Tony says they do get quicker with more miles on when everythings bedded in nicely.

Just had the PPP fitted on my 05 WRX SL - I was under the impression, and have been told by Mike Wood, that there were no problem with deliveries unless the initial supplies have now been taken up by the back orders.
The general concensus is that PPP is better fitted later... if its fitted at new you're still restricted to 4000 rpm while the engine runs in, as Tony mentioned, so let the engine loosen up a bit before fitting. The 3 scoobs that I've had PPP on all had it fitted after the 1000 miles service - the STi at 10,000.
The dealer my have forgotten to order your PPP, and is now tell you there are problems as he realised with Christams round the corner there is little chance of getting one at short notice

As far as I'm aware there are no delays in delivery of either 05MY STi or WRX PPP. Subaru have stock of all the parts and the only possible delay may be the lack of returned ECU's from dealers although this is very unlikely. I can't check at the moment but will look into what's really happening on Monday.

In which case, it does sound like your dealer is errrrrrm 'mistaken'
Personally I'd also advocate leaving the PPP until after 1k. Had mine fitted on an STi a tad earlier, and it made it quite difficult to drive at running in speeds. It kept wanting to play.

Another vote for the PPP later, had my sti ppp'd after 10k miles and it was shocking how fast it was on the way home. The engine only now after 13k is giving it's best.

Just spoken to the guys at Subaru and there are no delays in sending out any of the 05MY performance packages. To avoid any disappointment though they always quote a conservative delivery date in order to under-promise and over-deliver rather than the other way round. This is why dealers prefer to fit the PPP at the 1000 service as it makes sure they have time to get the parts into stock. There is no technical reason for waiting and in fact we think it makes the car easier to run in as drivability at low rpm is improved
Basically, if your dealer has placed an order in time, they will get the parts on time. There are NO delays, only the usual time scale of processing the order and sending the parts.

Mike how is the development going for my Mountfield???
I need it in the Spring mate as my grass is going to need cutting much faster than it does at the moment non PPP?????
If there is a delay I need to know. I know you promised better driveability....even my missus may be able to drive it now
Do you have a torque figure for it yet????
Oh and an MPG figure.
Will my stripes be straighter????

I keep telling you, all you need is a bigger box on the back.
Get it sorted.....
Mike
PS
Straightness of stripes is entirely dependant on how much you've smoked

She likes to sit on it and rev it up thats why I need the PPP for a multi-orgasmic experience
