Default WR1/STi 8 questions

Hi everyone,

Had my WR1 about 8 months now and had a couple of things that people may be able to help with....

1, has anyone else found the windscreen wipers absolutely apalling... just smear rather than clear...??

2. Bit of a strange one..... If I go round a roundabout, reasonably quickly or round a sharp corner, i seem to get a lot of brake pedal travel on the first press... really bizarre...??? then after that its ok again, till the next sharp turn(Only when taken quickly though) almost like air has got into the brake system...

Brakes problems/concerns a Dealer should be your first port off call. and sooner rather than later may just want bleeding or even just to put your mind at rest

Replace the wipers with PIAA blades or use Rainex.

IMHO

As Tony said, get to a dealer asap. And use Rainex.

Have you been on here yet?

Took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. Said they reset the brake system?? just in case but still seems to do it.

I'll give the wipers a try...

I shall also frequent the site mentioned above...

Re the wiper blades, try cleaning them with autoglym glass cleaner or simular it has worked on mine especially at this time of year with all the muck on the roads.

Agreed wiper blades are **** at only 3000 miles and what you are experiencing sounds like pad knock off to me.

Aaron, what do you mean by pad knock off?? As in brake fade.... the brakes aren't used at all, ie maybe going down the motorway then off a sliproad round a round about and feels liket he pedal is almost if not to the floor. then after releasing and repressing they're ok again. But only happens after going round a sharp turn.

I think you may have an explanation by now.
My car does it but generally when I am twatting it my old 02 STI also did it double up on the peddle a little sometimes no problem
May mean you brake a little later may make you a bit quicker

I think I'd get your dealer to look at the brakes though. Does sound a tad familiar from the STi8 I had, but once they were properly bled I had no further issues.

Funnily enough, the WR1 is the first of my 4 Imprezas that hasn't needed new blades from the day I collect the car. Change/upgrade IMHO

Subaru couldn't afford the extra for good wipers, they spent far too much on the Stereo head unit. LOL

The wipers on my JDM STI are bad too, it's not just a UK thing.

Oddly, those on my UK MY00 were fine
