Default Forester fuel

I'm thinking (quite seriiously now) about getting myself a new 2.5 forester XT, with all the talk about the fuel that should be used in our scoobs what's the score with a UK supplied forester, the dealer i mentioned it to said there should be now problem with regualr unleaded, would you all agree or should I be looking at SUL/octane boosters etc

A chap i work with has an X plate Forester Turbo.
He has had it from new, he uses what ever fuel is available.
Sometimes he uses Super but 80% of the time he uses 95RON fuel.

He tows his caravan with it 6 times a year and has never had a problem with it, no warranty claims, breakdowns, detonation etc etc.

However, he notices a difference in MPG depending what fuel he puts in. He says he gets better MPG when running it on super.

His is an automatic, so thats probably why.
