Default Measuring out NF, how do you go about it?

Unless you just dump the entire bottle in with a full tank, you're going to have to measure out a known amount, this has presented me with a couple of problems.

1) Obtaining and carrying a suitable measuring device that wont break at the next sharp corner (so no glass ones)

2) A measuring device with NF residue in it is going to stink out the car.

So how do you lot get around it?

Currently I'm just grabbing a disposable container of a known size from the services (eg. milk carton 15ml. cardboard Espresso cup 80ml) or measuring an unknown carton by seeing how many of them it takes to fill a 250ml empty Red Bull can, but this is getting somewhat annoying.

So how do you do it? and for that matter how do you stop the NF bottle itself from stinking out the car?

I use several empty NF bottles, have a measuring pot.
Measure 75mls place this into each bottle and Bob's your uncle, an exact amount for each fill.
Always fill up to the top when the needle indicates about 3/4 empty

Good idea, but I'd need a lot of NF bottles to cover one of my trips, since I'm usually away from home all week

And do the NF bottles not leak or smell?

I use an old baby bottle with the teat head cut off. It is plastic and has markings every 50ml.

Did you ever think you'd buy car parts in Mothercare

Either a chemists or your local hospital will have small plastic measuring cups. 50 or 60mls and graduated every 10mls. After putting in 1ml per litre ie 50mls per 50 litre and before filling the tank I dribble in a little petrol to the measuring cup and put that in the tank. This obviously cleans it and I then put the cup upside down on top of the NF bottle.
The plastic cups go brittle in time and need replacing.

I use one of these and keep it inside the original packing so it doesn't rattle around too much in the rear footwell.

I got a small plastic 100ml measuring cup FREE from Alyn at AS performance.

Your local chemist should have some you can ask for.

I got a 60ml plasic measuring cup from Alyn last time i bought some NF off him, i keep it in the boot in a placcy bag to stop the boot getting covered in NF. Looking for a better solution though, i'll either get one of those meauring cylinders or start measuring out "doses" into spare bottles beforehand.

Many moons ago when I first purchased my NF from Dingy I used to get a little measuring cup with every order. Over time the graduations do wear away, but I've got enough to last me a while yet.

Like Harvey, I also wash the cup with petrol - I put the NF in, then put fuel in, a little while later stop the pump and place the nossle in the cup. Theres always some petrol in the nossle to partially fill the cup, which I swirl around and put back in the tank. Then I continue to fill up. I use paper towels to dry the cup and the top of the NF bottle - no smells in the glovebox for me!

The Share price in NGK just went up Adam.

I used to carry 12 old bottles filled to the correct amount for a full tank in a box behind my seat, each stop just grab a bottle and pop the lot in. No smells or leaks.

I also have a small glass measuring jug i bought of here.

5ml per litre is a bottle of NF per tank surely.

thats will turn optimax into 102 ron.

Normal people use 1ml per litre which is 50/60ml per tank.

I use 2ml/litre with Optimax, which i beleive gives just over 100RON. In fact I'm pretty sure it must be at least 100 since my ECU is now using advance multiplier map 16 (out of 16) whereas before it was using map 13 on pure Optimax, and it's a JDM STI ECU.

On a bottle of NF Race it says a whole bottle (300ml) will raise 60 litres of fuel by 6 points.

If your JDM has not been remapped it is probably intended to run on 100 RON.
1 ml per litre NF, ie 50mls to a 50 litre refill of Optimax will probably serve your purpose. ie supress det. 2mls/l will take Optimax to around 100 RON. The RON claimed for Optimax is 98.3.
10 points make 1 RON.
I have/had a report that was supposed to be independant and it stated that 3mls/l of NF raised pump super petrol by 2.8 RON. The same report stated that 20% toluene added 2.5 RON.
If your car is UK spec or a JDM mapped for UK fuel, then to get the best advantage from running NF or indeed toluene then the vehicle has to be mapped for that and you have to stick with that % of addative while running that map, otherwise on boost you will probably encounter det which will destroy an Impreza engine.

I used to run 75ml per 50litres when my STi5 RA was running the stock mapping. It worked a treat. Running a high concentration of NF tends to kill the spark plugs earlier in my experience.

I have to run BP Ultimate as I have a fuel card and the alternative is to pay for my own petrol!
So that would be 2ml per litre then?

2mls/l will lift Ultimate/Super to around 100 Octane if that is what you are trying to achieve.
