Phony telephone numbers from Autotrader
Just a quick warning (I think) about something that has happened to me because of advertising in Top Marques and Autotrader.
On saturday I received a text message which read:
"I am very interested in your car, I've tried calling but couldn't get through, could you call me on 0905000xxxx to arrange a time to view, thanks Mark xxxxx."
When I tried to call this number from my mobile I was warned it was a premium rate number, when I got through, all I got was an answer phone message wich seemed to be aimed at me which said:
"We are cery interested in your car, please leave a message regarding the condition of your car and the price and mileage (all of this information can be gleened from my advert), and we'll call you straight back."
Now I left a message, and called back the next day (from my work phone) and I've still not heard a thing.
I just wondered if any of you have heard of this before? I think it's just a scam from which they pocket the cash from the premium rate phone call.
Or am I being a bit too suspicious?
Just thought I'd mention it.
Cheers

A quick Google came up with this: http://www.younglivin.org.uk/advice/...text_scams.htm which is a similar scam, different text.

Sounds very similar.
I wouldn't mind so much, but I'm desperate to get rid of my car, and that was the only call I got all day.
I'm in the process of contacting Autotrader as we speak, I'll keep you all posted with their reply.
