Smile PPP WRX STI UK 03 - ECU fuel tolerance adjustment

Dealer has run 4 galls of std unleaded thro car whilst for sale (,...dont even ask...) - how long before Optimax restores optimum Prodrive map - is it time or consumption related - I shall assume that full throttle under high gear load will best teach it that the advance curve can be restored

thanks

I would be furious at the 'dealer', with a big F! Within the first tank of Optimax your PPP ECU will immediately recognise it, and within 10-20 miles the car will be what it should be power wise. You need to do one important thing though, go to the dealer, get the technician out to reset your ECU. Watch him do it, it takes 10 seconds, he will plug a device into a plug directly below your steering column and reset the ECU. What this does is cancels out the way the car has been driven before, so, despite how its been driven, it won't have perfomed well with 95 RON, so resetting the ECU will certainly help!In other words, your ECU memory of having to cope with 95 octane fuel will be erased!

Nothing wrong with 95 Ron fuel, 97 is "recommended though". The ECU on 03 cars will immediately adjust itself to recognise the higher octane.
