Autocar Pictures.....

I'm looking at the Autocar pictures of the new Impreza. Strange I no longer have doubts about when to sell my imp (99). I'm keeping it!!!!!!
The new shape is quite similar to the old but the new lights and grill have that Corolla feel. Wheel Arches are flared. Spoiler is similar to the Sport.
p.s. Cost maybe as much as £25000 according to Autocar....

Upset Autocar? What, so they actually paid for the piccies instead of getting them off the net - I guess it's about time a magazine printed new pictures before the world had seen them.

Mr Cookie/Impreza please check your mail.
Lots of problems with my outlook client making me look stupid. There's one big file which you shouldn't download if you get the option. Download 635k mail only.

Yep Looks matter they really do...
I was hoping for a more modern look. I hated the ford focus initially but it was a radical step away from the other models. The design of this Impreza, for me, lacks imagination and flair. Perhaps it could be salvaged with some creative bodykit, who knows?
I'm disapointed that the six speed box is on the WRX only and that the suspension improvements are not included. £25000 - a tad expensive?
I was looking forward to buying the WRX but would have expected a price tag closer to £27000 rather than £30000.

Can you really tell the difference.
Its great...I'm going to start a new tuning company offering body parts to Chrysler Neon owners so they can make their cars look more like imprezas.
I'm currently trying to sell my MY00 Turbo at the momment and the prices have dropped thru the floor...hopefully the new car should help to bring its price back to something more real...cos I won't be buying one of the new ones (unless it happens to go like stink and handle even better than the current car).
I am grinning like a fool...and I haven't driven my car for days
Cheers

As far as the wheels are concerned, when you see the pix in Autoexpress this week you'll note that the wheels appear to be a twin spok design, similar to some Speedlines, but in the style of the MY98 wheels. They also appear to be 17's, not the 16's in the Autocar pix.
I have to say I am a little confused by the Autocar pix. Security has been monumentally tight, yet a 2001 appears in broad daylight, unattended and with Subaru on the plates.
In addition, there is a wide variety of shots, almost all of them are taken from angles which either distort the car, or show nothing. These are pictures are not those of an opportunist. Smacks of an official leak to me.
Still undecided about the shape, but I have to say it looks a lot better in a sort of Sonic Blue

At least one good think should come out of it, an upturn in residual values of the "less ugly" ones.....

Like a number of you have said, the new Impreza has settled my mind about saving up for it. It's just about the mankiest looking new car I've seen this side of Korea.
If Subaru were looking for a way to drive buyers towards Mitsubishi or even the upcoming Focus Cosworth, then it's a job well done. What the hell's going on with that front end? It's as though someone rammed a Legacy into a Corolla front on.
Suddenly, my chunky MY99 becomes a collectors' item. Best keep those mileages down, boys. And hats off to the Daewoo design team behind the new Imp. I look forward to seeing the sales figures for this new model.
Usually, a new iteration of a car is an improvement (although the new Mondeo looks a bit cack, for example) but this one's soooooo wide of the mark it defies belief. Subaru. What. Have. You. Done?

If these pictures are factual then I stick with my previous view that the car has been toned down a lot for release to the US market place.
I'll stick with my UK 98 car as I don't want to be asked "is it a Hyundai" by the local puffa jacket bridgade

Jo Brand may be the equivalent of a Sexual Tyransaurus Rex, she may perform wonders that you wouldn't believe and bang like a 5hite house door in the wind.
Would you want to be seen in her??
Sorry to be crude but it makes my point, I hope that the car we see at the show doesn't look like this, otherwise Iwould rather be seen in Jo Brand.

Is this really for real ??
I noticed the old wheels too.. surely they would not stick the MY98 wheels back on the new car !!!!
Something feels a miss there !!!!
