sti 02 bugeye?
looking for a scooby, i have seen a nice 2002 sti with 30k on it and its for sale at £18k.
it is a standard car and is the prodrive style without the ppp engine mods.
can anybody tell me if this is a good buy and is there anything i should know and look out for with this model, it drives n feels like the dogs proverbs.

bugeye seems to be pretty well unloved by most
However I have a Bugeye MY02 WRX (with some mods) and it seems to have been pretty well screwed together and I personally like the look of the Prodrive Style 2002 I paid £895 for for the spoiler to match !!
£18 K ..............Hmmmmm , OK if it had the PPP but a bit pricey. Is it from a dealer we all know ??

Thing is for 18K am I not right in thinking you could get a new 04WRX? Standard I know but new 3yrs warranty worth more when you want to change and add PPP bits later or other bits to make it your own.

I have a non prodrive styled STI02 Bugeye with PPP.
When I bought it I had no intention of putting on the PPP, but I found that for my commute in slow traffic, the STI02 is a bit of a pain. My wife hated the car because of the way it delivered its power.
It took me 10 months or so to also come to that conclusion. I think that they must have improved this on the later models, because no-one seems to have as strong an opioion as me now.
Anyway with PPP it is great and I think that the Prodrive styled Bug STI is the best looking so far!

I've got a bugeye and am quite happy with it! Though you do tend to get the impression that they are less loved that some models IE the other two!
Got mine in June this year, its an 02 STi-UK with PPP and had 36k on the clock, FSH and one owner, paid £18k for it from a main dealer. They reckoned they had mispriced it on the website and it was cheaper than it should have been, but would let me have it at that price. But can you really believe a car dealer when they tell you a story like that?
Mind you, I bought it anyway...

i part xd my 52 plate sti prodrive with ppp in may, it had 11k miles on it, got 19k for it, they had it up for £20995 for a while then reduced it to £19995, it then sold, that sounds pricey for 18k

I have a silver bug WRX, now wish i had bought a STi-7 in the same colour - looks fantastic. But at £18k I'd be starting to do the sums on a new EU import STi....

Bought my 02 STi prodrive (non PPP) in July for £18K with 28K on the clock and additional year's warranty (20 month full Subaru warranty). If it's dealer with extra warranty, £18K is good, but maybe a bit of room to haggle. As for looks, I definitely prefer the bug (STi) to the classic and the Blob - don't seem to see as many bugeyes around either but loads of STi blobeyes.

I have a silver JDM STI on a 51 plate (bug eye) its been in the UK from new with full s/h. Its done 29k. However when I bought it was damaged at the rear and is a cat d....I saw another thread a couple of days ago, someone was lookin to buy a similar car for around £18k which was a cat d. Mine has morettes and and an aftermarket roof vent, considering selling it to upgrade to a blob eye. I think £18 is top money for a nice one, a cat d should be worth around £15k?

I had a 2002 sti 7 with the prodrive boby kit. As far as I know they only produced 750 in the Prodrive style. Mine was kindly written off for me by a white van man last week, thus meaning that there should be no more than 749. So I would say that £18k would put it within a reasonable price bracket. Although you may be able to haggle over the mileage. I have seen them on Auto Trader for around £20k at dealers.

Fair enough! So I guess mine is probably worth around £12.5 then!! Might as well keep it. When I was looking for a JDM a year ago they seemed to be fetching similar money to UK cars.
I was also under the impression that JDM STi's are around 300bhp, different sites say different things.

However, I now have an Sti8, and must admit that it is better. No offence to the remaining Sti7 owners. They are both great!!

Keep it jspec, the STI7 JDM's I was looking at on Wednesday were lovely, and I must admit the dealer wanted 16K for them ! To be fair if I didn't know about SNET I would of thought that fair, bloody dealers
