Can't speak on behalf of TSL, but when Scoobysport or should I say Pat mapped mine, the day went like this.

Met Pat, bought him a can of Coke,
He hooked up his laptop and downloaded a new piece of code into my ECU,
Went for a spin with the laptop still connected and he was monitoring boots, fuel injectors etc (this went on for about 1.5hrs)
Got back to SS and handed over £650.

The drive back was simply amazing, 30bhp & 30lbft torque gained, best mod money can buy.

Good luck

Cant wait for the drive home, but knowing my luck, friday afternoons and M6 = Lots of bloody traffic. But there are a few country lanes on the way back from TSL.

ive had my car mapped at TSL and they are very friendly, after giving them your car you will have to sit in the waiting area while they terst run and map your car you are allowed and encouraged to walk around the garage area to see whats happening after your car is mapped you empty your wallet of £££££ and then drive away hopefully a happy customer

Yeah, see if this helps. Arrived at (Bobs) at 9.30 a.m, and parked in his garage. Bonnet up, ecu interrogated to see if car was happy. All o.k in my case, so Bob continues by cabling up various bits of technical looking gubbins ( his own boost gauge, 'cos he won't trust yours ), laptop, etc. Then, in my case, his next customer ( Kurt, from Holland !) turns up early, just as we're about to thrash, er, I mean re-map my car. It's freezing outside ( February ) so we invite him to come. Then , if you're driving, there follows an embarrassing period where Bob tells you what he needs to see on the boost gauge, while you conspicuously fail to deliver. This, remember, in my case anyway, in front of an only recently introduced audience! When you finally moderate your inputs sufficiently to meet Bobs not unreasonable requests, he'll expect you to hold the requested figure on the boost gauge for what will seem like an eternity. Be aware that you can only do this by steadily increasing pressure on the throttle! At the point you will be allowed to throttle off, the speeds will be approx. double the motorway speed limit. You will be expected to do this for a period of about 2 hours, interspersed with 10-15 minute lulls in proceedings where you'll be sat in Bobs favourite layby, so he can fiddle about with your boost, ignition and fuel settings, before re- evaluating on the next trip up the by-pass. Try not to have the local constabulary in the vicinity, as I did ( at approx. 120 mph ), as Bob will get a bit twitchy, and refer you to a favoured detour in order to shake them off the scent. Other than the ( much more lively ) drive home, pretty normal day, really! Thanks, Bob.

cable to ECU = £10-20
software = £???

Where can I buy one of these programmes from?

You are correct Ray - if it "Sounds too easy to be true" - IT IS!!
Bob remapped mine in August & the knowledge & expertise he showed was incredible. Mess with this stuff and you'll have £4000 for a new engine to add to the £1020 you calculated!

Its the EcuTek software that costs. You buy a set number of tokens, not sure on exact costs but someone told me around £300 for each token..... so not that cheap!

must be some IT geek (there are loads on here) that can hack the tokens. Bring down the cost
By the sounds of it the insurance bloke will have to be **** hto to spot an ECU remap/program/upgrade. which ever it is

Hi Ray,
It is software, so I imagine it could be cracked without too much trouble.
The skill is in the mapping - mess it up & your engine goes bang.
It does seem quite expensive I agree, but around 30+ BHP/lb of torque for £500 + VAT is not that bad.

BTW I'm not a salesman for BRD - I'm just enjoying Bob's work everyday!

Who are BRD?

Right now Im happy with 215bhp but things will change when Im 25 .
How about the insurance man? is there anywhay they can tell since its only software?
Just like to add I will tell the insurance co every thing I mod.

Not to keen on flooring the car above 100mph. Spend £600 only to loose my licence the day I get it mapped
