Why is an Impreza impractical? 4 doors, 5 seats, decent boot, the recent models have good crash test ratings...

Got to agree with GaryCat,it doesn't get much more practical than the scoob!,its the ideal family car,the wife can go shopping in it and take the kids if you've got any,and you have a high performance car for those times when your out on your own.Only problem i would see is if your using it for high mileage, then a diesel would be handier.
Keep the car mate ,we have all got to have our little treats in life

I think the spec c and STI are a little hard for babbies, but the WRX is a fine family motor. Even comes with twin ISOFIX mountings for rock solid baby seats.

Nice big boot for pushchair, child locks on rear doors, electric windows can be disabled from drivers console.

Only problem I've encountered (with two kids now), is that my 3 year olds car seat is a little close to the back of my seat (my seat is quite far back), so hes a little squashed. But you can get smaller ones. Baby seat is fine.

Don't do it mate

Seroiusly, isn't a 4-door saloon practical? My Scoob was perfectly adequate when I had 3 kids, when the fourth came along (hey, I am Catholic ) I got a Toyota Estima MPV as the family car. I persuaded her to let me keep the scoob as my toy......

4 door scoobs are practical, I wouldn't get rid of it if thats the only reason.

I think you also have to think about up how you are going feel in a few months time when the Spec C has gone, being a depressed father isn't a good thing for you or the family.

I was in a similar position to you a few months ago and its not a nice feeling, there seems to much to try to weigh up.

My advice is to take your time and don't just jump at a decision.

Default Impreza

Hi there ive 3 kids and i find the scooby great loads of space. And i was very impresed last weekend when a women crashed into the back of me ( no kids in car ) and her car was wreaked and mine needs a new bumper and little bit of panel beating so i can vouch for there saftey factor to, i thought it would have been wreaked. Also awd is another big saftey feature. I would Stick with the scoob defo. And if its a money thing i dident find haveing kids THAT expensive. House was the worst thing esp over here in Ireland house prices are mad.

If i really had to get rid of the scooby id want a skoda rs i drove a friends and was very impresed and the boot is a real HELLO ANYONE IN THERE. But 2 wheel drive and 180 bhp

Good luck anyway mate

Starting to have a look in this direction myself. What's the best spec UK wagon around (non bugeye)? Is there an import 5 door STi model?

D

PS consider a roofbox mate! It's the dog that forces my hand...

There's always the classic STI 5dr; if you want something newer, there are a very few bugeye STI wagons around - they were sold in Japan but sadly discontinued when the new front end came in for MY03. I doubt you'd get a model report to be able to import one now

The best UK spec wagon now would be a WRX SL '05 with PPP - not a bad motor at all.

Why not get something like this:

Lots of room for the kids and an everyday bus...

I have 2 children and the reason i bought a MY02 STi is because it has 4 doors. What more do you need when you have kids..? And you have plenty of boot space for prams if needed.

Oh and they are favoured at school because daddy has got a Subaru that everyone looks at and comment at.

Oh what it must be like to have a cool dad that owns such great Scooby!!

Just keep it and your children will come to love it as much as you!!
