The 8 is sexy looking, a huge improvement on the less than excellent 7, well these cars so close in terms of driving experience that it is hard to differentiate. It depends on looks more than car in my opinion, i think the P1 is fecking gorgeous! but by all means consider it - if the colour is putting you off - why in the world did you buy it??

Managed to get a test drive in an FQ330 after pretty much having to show the dealer a bank statement so that he stopped treating me like a bit of **** ... thought it was boring.

Bought a WR1 instead - which is faster (after a few minor mods ) but in standard form was definately quicker!!

Don't regret the choice one bit.

... would have bought a T25 if it wasn't for a 1 year warranty and if I could find an insurance company who would quote me on one - which I couldn't!!

I got myself a SpecC cos I love the WRBlue more - same pace as a WR1, but cheaper so you can get yourself the warranty for 3 years and still have enough money for mods to make it faster

Cool

Considered W1 but already had owned 3 scoobs one after another so fancied a change, almost bought a Skyline! but wanted a daily driver so went for an EVO8 MR FQ340 .
Would probably have bought a WR1 if.......
1 It was available with 2.5 engine.
2I Didn't feel imports/specials were better value and Spec for the money.eg JDM STI (Spec C, T25 were even more tempting!)

Nothing wrong with a WR1 though, all down to personal choice in the end.

Evo is truely quick though!

Flame suit going on now!

WR1 for me. Evo was too dull. It went very well but that was it really. Oh and the seats gave me back ache after 20 minutes.

But each to their own at the end of the day and it's always good fun to go test driving!

Same as most on hear with a WR1, when spending 30k most of us looked at other cars, why would'nt we. In the end we all have choice and those that wanted the WR1 chose it.

Could debate this one again and again, in the end I got a WR1 with insurance cost of £600pa fully protected no claims bonus, had back box changed by dealer adding a little more, completly happy with it, including the colour.

Evo great car just down to choice, if I can save enough I will having M3CSL as my next car, as at trax IMHO it was the best car going round the track.

IMHO there's not much point in getting the Spec C now that the rest of the range has its suspension settings. Unless the extra weight saving is really worth it to you, you're better off with the 'regular' Japanese STI which costs less and has more kit.

I also think it's worth driving one even if you're thinking of the Type 25; the twin scroll turbo gives it an urgency that's lacking in the UK car (even with PPP). You may find there's no need to spend another 7 grand on having the 2.5 conversion done, and if you like the suspension setup you can have a Type 20 instead which has everything the T25 has except the engine swap.

I also considered the Evo as well as used M3's and TVR's but at the end of the day the WR1 package was better suited to my needs.

As I have said on previous threads I also considered T25 and if I could have had a wagon that would have won over the WR1 but you can't, so the easier to insure WR1 was my choice and so far I am thrilled with it.

Regards

Robin

Been there done that bought an MR340.
It boiled down to just wanting something different in the end. Had two Scoobs back to back and fancied a change.
Went out in WR1 last night and to be honest it just confirmed that I'd made the right choice. Nice looking car and fast but when i sat in it it just felt too familiar and not that different from my old 03WRX PPP.
Performance wise I doubt the WR1 is faster than either an MR320 or 340 it just feels it because it is more laggy and the turbo comes in with a real bang. EVO felt initially very tight and disapointing but that was because I was expecting the big shove in the back I was used to. MR340 picks up boost very early and is progressive right the way through the rev range and has a murderously quick top end (5-7k rpm)
Only criticism I can levy is the gearchange when cold, it feels like the clutch isn't fully disengaged untill the oil has reached temperature...oh! and it stalls occasionally when stopping which is really annoying.
Otherwise everything is great, handling very sharp and ride on MR range vastly improved over standard 8, although the SAYC takes some getting used to. The Scoob was more steerable on the throttle where as the Evo seems to sort out understeer by keeping the throttle pinned.

isnt the new 2005JDM STi better than the WR1 ???
I was told by someone that it knocks spots off the WR1 and i should invest my money in the jap spec instead, even though i really want the 22B

I love my Scoob, first one and now modifying nicely, but anyway, i must say from what i see and read between the Scoob's and MR's, you get on a Mitsi what you should get on the Scoob as standard. I have paid for all my engine tweaks and brakes, etc, but on the MR's that is there when you buy it.
I would stil have the Type-25 though any day. I just dont like the Mitsi look.
And alas, no one waves at you in one of them! LOL
