Talking

Hi folks,
My clutch failed on the 22B last weekend.
Got car to Wilsons of Chadwell Heath at around 6pm Monday.
They found a clutch for me, had it delivered and installed and gave me a call an hour ago (2pm Thursday) to say it was ready for collection (as soon as they'd finished washing it that is)!
Top job, especially considering SUK and prodrive were out of the clutches I wanted and he had to source it somewhere else.
Had a bit of a sweat on about this as I thought I'd end up having to take the Escort 1.6L to Scotland next week.
Cheers,
Happy Chuck

Much has been said on good / crap dealer service. Has anyone actually catalogued peoples opinions to help those that have a few dealers to choose from? The topic crops up in so many threads it is hard to get all the info from BBS searching.

Cool

Good Idea!
Rupert U did this once (Are you still around?), I got a spreadsheet from him when I was looking to buy a year ago.
Something for one of these web/database experts to build for us in their spare time instead of reading this BBS...

Hmmmm, that sounds like a good idea ... If we come up with some headings ie. Value, Quality etc and then score each out of five.

Then have a searchable database? What do you reckon?

sounds like a blinding idea. My only request would be to include independants as well as offical subaru dealers, eg, ScoobySport, GDA Sports Car Imports (free plug for my indepentant there), etc...

Folks

I'm willing to do it if someone does the 'donkey-work' and decides on fields to track.

How 'bout the following...

Contact detials - usual stuff address, postcode etc
email - for info
website - url
official dealer - y/n
import servicing - y/n
link to map - no problem via streetmap

then for each visit.....

date
car model
milage
things reported to be repaired...ie 6k service, rattle from door ( ho ho )
things fixed[b]
[b]parts replaced
then some grades out of ten....

helpfulness etc
understanding of problem
feedback
- ie informed when work finished

you see what i am getting at ????????

more ideas please - if it proves popular Ill bang something up...

Question

it may be worth building in the question as to whether this was the suplying dealer, cos I for one am sure it makes a bit of difference come service time

Robski, for the record here Wilsons didn't supply me the car, they are local to me and seemed genuinely enthusiastic. I was a bit of a pain as I didn't want the standard clutch back in, the supplying dealer didn't seem bothered to do any work in helping me out, but Roger at Wilsons did a stellar job investigating alternatives for me!
Supplying dealers stickers being removed as I post .
Cheers
Chuck

Cool

So Chuckster was this clutch failure down to another traffic jam around Lakeside, or perhaps a bit of enthusiastic driving

Yex

PS: enjoy Scotland, a good mate of mine lives in Helensburgh (just north of Glasgow) and it's a beautiful place to visit. The roads are excellent (you know what I mean ) and the hotels and pubs very hospitable.
