whats your sti registered as ??
i'm curious to see what everyone elses is registered as
My car is a WRX Sti version 5, yet the V5 says its a GL, i know its an import, but why is registered as a GL and not a WRX STi.
Having phoned DVLA, a woman there said just send it back annotated with what it actually is, is it that easy ?

If you've just made a SORN declaration then there's no need to re-register, just buy a tax disc and off you go. In fact you really don't want to try and re-register the car at all in case you find yourself faced with an SVA test...

Insurance would be invalid AFAIK if the vehicle model on the V5 differs from the actual model.
You might also find that an encounter with a traffic officer might take a bit longer.......

lol mine is a wrx and thats what it say's on the V5, however when i get insurance qoutes it always shows up as an sti8, and you know what insurance co's are like half dont have a clue what your on about and still qoute you for an sti8 and the other half will agrue blind that your car must be an sti8, so just think what prob's i have when shopping around for insurance.
p.s. yes i have contacted dvla and there comps show it as a wrx as thats what it is. anyone else had this problem?

My V5 did say GL
but a letter to the DVLA and now it says WRX
Still comes up as a '93 GL when I try to insure it though!!

It's an homologation thing to do with the chassis type. I beleive that it dates back to the days when either IM or Prodrive importted 10 pre-production Impreza Turbos for evaluation and registered all of them as 1.8 GL's (then the only 4wd Impreza officially available in the UK) after evaluation these cars were either scrapped or converted into rally cars (Ian Cook - one of the old school impreza owners - had one of these cars that had been used for rallying).
If you do have the 'GL' reference in your logbook it can help come MOT time, they didn't have Cat's and you may get around the emmisions test more easily

Mine just states Subaru 2-axle-rigid body.
Tried to get it corrected when I changed address but they sent it back with just the address updated, There was a post-it note saying they could'nt do it for some reason, can't remember what though

I have it on good authority (from someone who builds and restores kit cars) that DVLA get all nervous if you try and change more than one detail on the form at once. If you update one thing (say, the address), then the colour, then the engine size (for example) then there's no problem. Try and change more than one thing at once and alarm bells ring and they get suspicious.
