ppp ECU for a MY 01 wrx
having had it confirmed, by Prodrive, that
'All 01MY PPP's fitted now use our latest technology.'
does anyone have the published figures for bhp and torque for this 'now' MY 01 WRX installation?

Isn't the MY03 onwards engine about 8-10bhp more than the MY01-MY02? Or is that just a fallacy. If it is true, what are the differences that give the later engine those few more bhp?

I had a look on the subaru site the other day, they have figures for the Sti but nothing for the wrx, just the price.
I am considering the upgrade but not till I know exactly what it is and what it gives me.

Can anybody guide me to a site or post confirming that PPP ECU's for MY01/01 WRX's now use the ECUTEK software and not the old piggyback chip.
Or even better has anyone had it fiited and what do they think?
Just had a look on Prodrive's website and couldn't find any details re PPP's for MY01/MY02 WRX's
Nothing I could find on Subaru's site either, eveything relates to MY03 onwards.
If the new software is being used might seriously consider a PPP as the car feels so slow after test driving a STI
Cheers
Stephen

I had my MY02 PPP'd in October 2003 and it is definitely the new chip, as confirmed by Mike Wood of Prodrive. I have a 2-page PDF of the spec sheet (although the MY03 is pictured in it) if anyone wants it sending, I can mail it. It seems to have disappeared from Subaru's revamped website.

MJW, is that the spec sheet from the Prodrive website with the red '03 piccy AFAIR that gives the in-gear times etc?
If it isn't can you send me a copy as per profile?
From a previous Mike Wood reply, the bugeye PPP can be approx 5ps down on a blobeye figure as they have a different first cat which has to have slightly lower exhaust gas temps through it so the performance is "capped" to achieve this... The blobeyes don't have this "restriction" due to alternative cat materials.
For those that haven't had it done and want to keep the full warranty, it's deffo worth it as it's like you've been given a new car but better - so much more responsive and fluid for everyday driving . You realise how much a standard car is "choked" Consumption figures can go up a couple of mpg (depending how much lead you've got in your right foot ) when you're not using the performance...
Whether you think it's worth the asking price with or without discount is your decision if you're considering alternatives...
