Dealer servicing-does it make you nervous?
I had the 1st year service on Tuesday, for which I supplied my own oil and a nice note reminding the mech. to ensure the filter was completly full and a request to disconnect the crank sensor and crank engine before firing-up. It just so happened that from where I was sitting in the reception area, I could see the the guy at work. Did he pre-fill the filter? - I saw him do it once, I hope he topped it up again, but doubt it.
Did he disconnect the sensor? - Did he b*****ks!
He then decided to adjust the handbrake by poking a screwdriver through the back of the drums and tweek the actual shoe clearance.
At the end of all this he blatted the car up the road before presenting the thing as done.
On the way home I noticed on occasions as I approached traffic lights that the car seemed to slow down more as you creep towards the car in front, and that the handbrake only moved on an inch or two. By the time I got home there was a strong smell of hot linings!
Back to the dealer for re-adjustment of the linings!
This morning I check the tyre pressures and find 35psi front and 33 psi rear.
The car is re-booked in for next week for a rear diff seal replacement (at least he noticed the slight weep of oil - which I knew about anyway) Now I am really nervous
I am fully capable of carrying-out all the service items myself but wanted the stamp in the book.
Someone please tell me there is a garage out there I could trust. From MANY years of experience I have yet to find ANY!!

I can just imagine my customers telling/asking me how to do something
I can also just imagine what i'd be thinking
Something like a lot of mumbling and "Cheeky ****** trying to tell me how to do my job"

I'm sure you carry out your repairs professionally and with all appropriate checks, however you can't blame a person for being concerned.
I'll ignore the proper method becaue I can't be bothered or I'll ignore the proper method because someone's trying to tell me my job.
Seems that he was right to put a note in the car. It was still ignored, but either way it doesn't look like he was going to win.
I'm sure there are more technicians with professionalism at your garage.
