Default Mud Flaps are yours a pain??

I fitted some of Scott Lowe's mud flaps a few months ago and have so far managed to pull them and the bumper off 2 or 3 times. When reverse parking it seems that the mud flap gets trapped between the Kerb and the wheel and as you back up the wheel grips the mud flap and pulls it off the wheel arch.

Any one else suffer from this? Or know of a solution besides not to reverse into parking spots???

I have these on my STi8 and not had this problem at all.

I do reverse into parking spaces but dont generally mount the kerb. Also try changing to the higher setting on the flaps.

A common problem with Land Rovers on rough terrain...the solution is to remove them

or tie them up

LOL I had the same problem just 2 days back I reversed into a pavement lip (thought I was clear of it) and crunch/rip....mud flap half hanging off and torn hole where the flap fits into the wheel arch (just thank goodness there was no one around as it was well embarrasing ) The only difference is that these are original Subaru ones and not ones from Scott...

So looking slightly off balance I took the remaining rear one off but kept the two up front....doesn't look as good but still they do the job Saving up for a new rear set! (only fitted last month )

Is the torn one OK ? (the brackets you can straighten easily as they're aluminum!) the way I drive, I'm keeping the other for a spare

two suggestions...

1. Usually there's two sets of holes on the flaps set them to the bottom ones or make some new holes in the flap to mount them slightly higher than the average kerb height.

2. Learn to reverse!!! LOL

Never had any bother cos I took the rear ones off, and fitted my copy of the prodrive stone deflectors on the front only. I was concerned about leaving the rear bodykit behind me one day
The front ones protect the doors completely, that's all I wanted really.

Here they are

I have a set off Scott lowe ones on mine and havent had a problem in 5 months. As has already been said make sure you have them on the high setting,I found mine dragged all the time when i had 4 people on board when on the low setting.

I did rip one of mine off due to an unsurfaced road and hidden kerb...doh! But I would say no, don't have any problem with them at all.

Almost did the reversing thing one day stopped just in time so only scratched the STi writing (did you know the real one's are reflective ) the only other problem is the fronts dragging on hard cornering and thats on the high setting.

Default Mounting kerbs and Mudflaps

It's a common fault on a lot of cars

But then you ain't mean't to mount the kirb
