P1 bonnet replacement?
Had my bonnet open at 40mph the other night ...... Being aluminium it has creased itself nicely across the middle as well as damaging the welds on the hinges.... Can these bonnets be repaired or do I have to source a replacement? If so, any recommendations on where I can get one at all?

No idea how it happened... Bonnet catch seems to sticking in the open position - doesn't look as though it's been greased in a million years.... Bonnet flew up and then jammed over the windscreen wipers. Which was nice. Needed a bit of brute force to get it down again. No other damage fortunately.
Typical.
Was just planning to sell it too

Been there, done that, wierdly also at 40MPH. Wasn't recent or in my P1 though. Both the safety release catch and the bonnet catch weren't greased.
There's no practical way of repairing the bonnet if it's badly creased. You'll need a replacement. Then the hinges mayl have strained and won't fit properly on a straight bonnet. In my case washers were used as shims to get the new bonnet to sit properly. I guess more radical work may be required in more extreme cases.
I haven't looked at the service manual but if this sort of thing is supposed to be covered during service, I'd be on to my dealer.
Good luck getting it sorted out. Shouldn't cost the earth if you do a bit of legwork.
